Riesling Trail & Clare Valley Cottages

was traveling back form Queensalnd and we were staying Clare for 3 nights and we found this lovely accomodation. Fran was a fantastic host asking dietary questions for our stay and she kept in contact through out our stay. once entering the cottage it was clean tidy and the breakfast provision were outstanding . the only comment I have to say is the bathroom could do with a little TLC was looking a bit dated .But comfortable cosy and quiet .

Scrupulously clean, contained all facilities expected for this type of accommodation. Pleasant decor, attractive location and excellent prior communication by management.

Just spent an enjoyable long weekend staying in 'Lily' cottage, and would definitely stay there again. Laura, the owner, was very helpful and replied to any questions/requests very promptly. Upon arrival we found the fridge to be stocked with milk, juice, eggs/bacon, butter/jams along with bread, cereal, tea and coffee (including a Nespresso machine and pods). The cottage itself was set in a nice quiet location, not far from the town centre but away from the sound of traffic - pretty much all we heard was birdsong from the surrounding trees. The Riesling Trail runs past the site, all 35km of it, and handily across the road is a cycle hire centre if you wish to explore it. The location is also a good base from which to explore the rest of the Clare Valley.

We basically took over this slice of paradise for 5 nights. Five couples - all long time friends - visited the Adelaide Hills area for a family wedding; hired a van; and stayed in the Clare Valley. We found these cottages on line and it was just perfect. We spent the days visiting the wineries and the nights sitting around one of the 2 barbecues drinking the day’s purchases (and eating way to much!). Every day we walked into Clare for a coffee, and for groceries when necessary. Plus a restaurant or two. The cottages were all well presented with plenty on offer for breakfast (bacon, eggs, bread/butter/jam, juice, cereal/milk, tea bags/coffee pods) and all the utensils you need. Our cottage was clean & tidy with good wifi, plenty of hot water and a large comfy bed; plus a spa bath; shower (we were in Lily cottage). Couldn’t be happier.

On arrival at 1.40 pm Note official check in time is 2.00pm.I went to introduce myself. The owner was verbally abusive to us which was extremely upsetting. We left immediately and returned 2 hours later in fear of more reprisal. Unfortunately the room inside and out, including furniture was not cleaned properly. The hot water in the shower works only sometimes and exhaust fans noisy. Peeling paint ,cracked tiles the list is too long to advise. My main concern however is Privacy. The person collecting the bins kept looking into the bathroom. We all had to keep our blinds shut the entire stay which made it very dark and alarming. I hope things will change and be addressed as the Clare valley and Riesling trail are wonderful and deserve more respect as it’s guests.
