Really nice hotel. We also went to Mae Sai Border Station, Golden Triangle, Mae Salong, Chiang Rai Night Market, and Sleeping Beauty Cave. I hope to have the opportunity to travel to Thailand next time. Thailand travel is great.

The staff and the owner are very friendly and helpful. After the flood in Chiang Rai there were still small, easily fixable defects, and the owner was grateful for the pointing out.

There is so much that could be good about Maison de Chiang Rai with its quirky decor and generous bird-filled gardens but the staff seem determined to make the experience miserable. It’s one of those places where it feels like you have caused offence simply by booking and paying to stay. Smiles are at a premium and woe betide anyone who asks for a coffee or help with a car to the airport. The rooms are a bit soulless and lacking in windows but it is still a nice respite from the bustle of the city. Close to the airport but a cab ride from the city centre and not much in the way of local eateries nearby.

My wife and I felt really lucky to have found this recently opened hotel during our rainy season tour of northern Thailand. It is a small hotel with friendly and well-informed staff who gave us many useful tips about places to visit. The ground floor reception is very light with glass on three sides and overlooks the pool. Art works abound on every wall with quirky sculptures and ornaments. Upstairs is a wonderfully designed covered terrace with book shelves full of interesting books about art and artists. There is very comfortable seating, and the eaves project well away from the house making it feel like a tent, airy but completely protected from the dramatic rainstorms that came and went. A great space in which to read or meditate or hang out with friends. The bedrooms have everything you need except no windows looking out towards the front of the house. There is a tall window overlooking a (currently) vacant plot at the back, but you wouldn't want to spend much of the day in the bedroom. Which suited us fine as there is so much to see and enjoy around Chiang Rai.

The rooms are quite large and clean. The small pool is completely sufficient for a quick cool down. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast is incredibly tasty. It is a mixture of buffet and à la carte! We were able to park the moped without any problems and were quickly in the center
