The hotel, on the western edge of Chesrrrfield is ideally located for exploring the Peak District. The hotel is well run, the staff, without exception, are friendly, professional and courteous. We had a very minor issue in our room, and the receptionist dealt with it quickly, competently and in a manner that exceeded the original problem. The receptionist, Kristina, set the tone for the level of service of all the staff, who did everything to make our stay enjoyable and peaceful, which is why we return, The restaurant has great ambience and the food is exceedingly well prepared and cooked. My wife had the halibut and I a steak, and she refused to swap as her halibut looked delicious (and it was). The desserts were to match the main courses in quality and taste. The rooms are well appointed, comfortable and ours had both a shower and deep bath. The bed was huge and there can be no complaints about one person hogging all the bed ! It is great the rooms have A/C as they can be warm with the underfloor heating in the bathroom. The only niggle is the green led flash from the smoke detector on the ceiling, until you get used to it. The view of the gardens adds to the great atmosphere, with mood lighting of the bridge and stag statues around the garden.
