JOYA Hotels in Chengdu

This is my second stay at Xiyue Hotel; my last visit was three years ago. The hotel's location is excellent, with Taikoo Li right downstairs, making it incredibly convenient for shopping. When I stayed here three years ago, the hotel's afternoon tea and late-night snacks were fantastic. Perhaps due to the economic downturn, both the afternoon tea and late-night snacks have significantly declined in quality, and the service has also worsened considerably. For the late-night snack, I ordered a bowl of dumplings and asked for an extra plate of vinegar. The server quite reluctantly said, 'Didn't you already get some?' Seriously, how is one small plate of vinegar supposed to be enough for three people? The restaurant staff were expressionless, perhaps because the 'extra' late-night snack requests added to their workload – that's the only way I can explain it. Another point worth mentioning is that the elevators are incredibly slow and difficult to catch! They are shared with the All Seasons Hotel, and it's not just about accidentally getting on the wrong one. You absolutely *must* pay close attention to which floor it stops on! Otherwise, if it stops and you get out (thinking it's your floor, even though no other floor button was lit up), you'll have to wait another 3-5 minutes. Overall, I was quite dissatisfied with this stay, and I won't be choosing this hotel again in the future. This is an honest review, for those who need it.

The hotel room is new, clean and have strong water shower pressure. The lighting switch control system is a bit confusing. The pillows are a bit soft for my liking. The buffet breakfast spread is very good but with limited seats if too many guests. The noodle station lady should improve on PR when speaking to guests. The cheerful housekeeping staff did perform well in maintaining the room clean. A good security control for entering the hotel room, guest can scan the room card and the specified floor number will be displayed. The front desk staff is kind enough to give us gifts upon checking out. The 3rd Tianfu Street Metro line 1 (Exit A) is about 5 minutes walk (370 meters) away from the hotel. There are some restaurants and two convenience store at the ground floor of the hotel building. The hotel is located within working office blocks area and is quite far from city centre (Chunxi road).
