The Cranberry, Ascend Hotel Collection

I have to start out by saying how great the staff was at the hotel and they are the reason its not a one start rating. We had issue with the room right from the beginning but the staff did everything they could to try and help us out. When you book stay away from the even numbered rooms as they face the hwy and its so loud. We would not have been able to sleep with the amount of truck and car noise. We tried a room on the 3rd and 1st floor and neither were acceptable. We went from a 2 queen room to a single king bed room on the other side of the hotel with my son sleeping on the couch and my daughter sleeping on the floor because that was the only option on that side of the hotel. Even on that side it was noisy but that was because you could hear the room above us clear as day. The parking lot is shared with the restaurant next door so it was difficult to find parking and when I did someone key my rental car in the parking lot. Not sure if that was because of the nice car we rented or because it was Ontario plates. The breakfast was not bad but cost us $5 per person. Most hotels would include that but I guess because there aren't a lot of other options close by the hotel the owners figure you will pay it just like we did. The staff tried their best but we weren't happy with the hotel and will try and find a different place next time we visit.

Bed was super comfortable. Room was very clean with up to date furnishings. Sound proofing was excellent. Parking and unloading the vehicle can be difficult due to the shared parking lot with the Tropics restaurant. The tropics restaurant gets very crowded on the weekend because the food is decent and they have live music. The grounds sit a long a golf course and are very clean

Will recommend Overall - experience was a good one. Areas of concern * Parking at night is difficult due to restaurant/club next door. * The room fridge has a glass door and it lights up the room. Very annoying. * Shower curtain was filthy and gross. * $5 for a so so continental breakfast, that other places have for free. Come on now. * Balcony had spider webs and bird doodoo. * More pillows please. * First night, room above kept us awake stomping around. Issue not resolved till 2nd night. Other than freeway noise, slept soundly 2nd night. Pros * Bed was super comfortable. * Other than shower curtain, place was very clean. * Staff was courteous, helpful and friendly.
