Charming boutique hotel, in an ideal location - close to restaurants and the harbour. But it does have a couple issues. My husband and I spent 4 nights in July 2025. Here are our Pros and Cons. Pros: - the staff are lovely - friendly, attentive, responsive. - location, location, location - couldn't be better - we stayed in a King room in the main building, on the 3rd floor, facing a side street. It was spacious, quiet, very comfortable. I've seen some reviews from people staying in some of the other buildings, or on the ground floor, with concerns about noise, stairs or air conditioning. But we encountered none of those issues. - they have chocolate chip cookies set out in the lobby in the afternoon (delicious!), and a 24-hour tea and coffee station - there's a complimentary happy hour from 5-6 in the lobby, with generous pours of PEI wine Cons: - parking can definitely be an issue. There are two small parking lots behind the main building, and they fill up. We did a lot of touring around during our visit, and if you get back after 5pm, chances are you won't get a parking spot. When we asked if they had any other spots, we were told that we would have to park on the street - overnight parking is ok on the streets around there, but you need to move your car by 8am. This happened on 3 of our 4 nights, which meant setting the alarm at 7:30am to make sure we could move the car by 8 (and hope that somebody has checked out early to open up a spot). Seems this is a recurring problem (not just for us, but for many other reviewers). Perhaps the hotel could look into securing offsite parking spots for their guests? - the breakfast wasn't 5-star for a couple reasons. It's in the lobby area, which is full of sofas and chairs, so most people are balancing plates on their knees. There are three small 2-person tables, and we were fortunate to get one of those most mornings. The breakfast buffet itself is okay, but not stellar. There is a fruit salad, bread and bagels, a couple pastries, an overnight oats with fruit which is a house specialty and quite good, and hot dishes. For 3 of our 4 mornings, the hot dishes consisted of an egg and spinach frittata, and either bacon, ham or sausages. The fourth morning was pancakes with one of the meats. I would have expected more variety/rotation in the hot dishes - frittatas are good, but maybe have different varieties of them, or try scrambled eggs or something else one day? If we had been there longer, would probably have started to go out for breakfast.

We stayed at the Great George for 2 nights in July, my husband, 2 young sons and I. It was lovely. We stayed in a Queen Suite which was spacious and clean. A shout-out for Sam who made our trip extra special. He was attentive, kind and helpful. I would recommend staying here and hopefully Sam is there to support you!

We’ve stayed at quite a few boutique style hotels, and the Great George did not disappoint! The breakfasts are lovely, the rooms are bright and clean, the lobby is warm and inviting and the parking is excellent. The location is perfect, literally down the street from the harbour, and close to shops and restaurants. The staff is very friendly and helpful, especially SAM. He went above and beyond to make our stay memorable.

A delightful small hotel in the old part of Charlottetown. 5 buildings form The Hotel, all next door. Large comfortable room, even 2 televisions! Excellent breakfast included. A free generous drink time early evening too. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. A short walk to the water or shopping area. Plenty of places to eat. We spent three nights here and wished it had been longer!

We arrived at The Great George on Friday, July 11, 2025, where we were warmly welcomed by the staff and checked in. Due to some changes in our plans—and because it was high season—we ended up staying in a few different rooms, as the traditional King room was booked for the dates we wanted to switch to. On Friday night, we stayed in an amazing one-bedroom suite with a full kitchen and living area. We loved it so much that we tried to book it for the remaining nights of our stay, but unfortunately, it wasn’t available. We then moved to our original reservation, a traditional King room. The bed was very comfortable, the pillows were firm yet soft, and we appreciated the blackout curtains on the windows. One of the highlights of our stay was meeting Sam (Samuel), one of the front desk staff. He was fantastic—always greeting us warmly, even when he was assisting other guests. He took the time to chat with us, often asking about our interests so he could recommend places to eat or visit. He explained that the only way to get ice was to ask at the front desk, which worked perfectly for our morning cooler bag needs. He also offered us bottled water when he knew we had a long drive ahead. Sam made us feel truly seen and was exceptionally helpful in every way. He went above above and beyond - a special thanks to Sam.

We are a group of 6 ladies, best friends and love to travel together and have fun. We absolutely loved everything about our stay at The Great George! We booked Harris House, a separate stand alone cute house part of the property. It was perfect for us, lots of room, nice deck and having access to all the amenities with the Inn was a bonus-like the big breakfast spread and complimentary happy hour. All the staff were very friendly, kind & helpful. A particular shout out to Sam managing the front desk. He went above and beyond for us our whole stay! We loved it so much Sam booked us in for next July to do it all over again. The lady that manages the breakfast buffet was also lovely to chat with. Highly recommend this gem of a place and in the best location in Charlottetown.

My friends and I had an amazing stay at the Great George for a girlfriend’s long weekend. We stayed in the four bedroom house, which was perfect for us. Large living room, well stocked kitchen (including a dish washer, and washer and dryer) and two bathrooms. There’s even a great little patio with furniture for sitting outside and enjoying the beautiful weather and flowers. The beds are very comfortable with lovely linens and everything was sparkling clean. Although the house is across the street from the main in, there is still a daily housekeeping service. Breakfast is also included – the employees are so friendly, and the breakfast selection is large with both hot and cold items, a great way to start your day! The ‘happy hour’ offered during the week days, was absolutely wonderful because of the great “Sam” he is such an asset to your team – he was so very kind and generous to all of us girls, and so lovely to us throughout our stay. All of the employees on the team were wonderful, but Sam stands out – we all hope to see you when we return next year (because we’ve already booked again). The Inn is located in an area which is very close to all the great restaurants and a 5 minute stroll to the waterfront, with more shops and restaurants and a great floating dock/bar area. I first started staying at the Great George over 30 years ago when travelling on business, and the addition of all the separate units surrounding the main are wonderful – this is a gem in Charlottetown and I highly recommend staying here, you will not be disappointed!
