DoubleTree by Hilton Charleston Riverview

Sam the shuttle driver was great, very friendly.  Front desk was also very helpful.  Our only complaint is the musty and mold smell in the bathroom.

Great place! Very clean and the staff were very helpful and nice! The room was clean and was stocked with everything! Our room even had a Keurig  and a microwave plus a mini fridge. We had the top floor and the corner room which we have never had before but the view was amazing!

Check-in was slow, my room had no hot water, and staff brushed it off by saying that I “probably had the knob in the wrong position.” This was insulting and dismissive. In addition to having decades of showering experience, I tried multiple handle positions and allowed the water to run. This was not user error. Another guest traveling with me had no air conditioning. Looking at past reviews, I noticed that a lack of hot water and A/C problems are recurring guest complaints, which makes the lack of concern even worse. Staff made no apology, showed no accountability, and made no effort or commitment to prevent this for future guests. Staff showed complete apathy. Basic comforts and genuine customer care should be guaranteed at a Hilton property—but this location falls far short. It's a shame, because the physical location near the harbor was nice.

Good location but we were unaware it had converted to a Hilton and was no longer a Cambria. We had trouble finding it. A heads up would have been helpful.

Booked hotel under Cambria name. Just days before our stay, the hotel was taken over by Hilton. So, we thought we had booked a hotel with a continental breakfast, maybe not. Full breakfast possible. Well, a bit of a disappointment. Slow service for only 2 other tables in play while we were there. Wife's toast cold and the coffee urn was empty. Got our coffee but after a wait. Hotel room, bed amazing, bathroom amazing, room amazing. Unfortunately, it had the barn slider style door on the bathroom and it did not slide well on the rollers (341). Fix please. Pool looked amazing. Never had an opportunity to enjoy. California Dreaming restaurant 3 minute drive away. An OMG experience! You'll like it here.

The overall experience went from okay to bad in a few short days. List is too long to mention but here are some low points. Fitness center was dirty. Cleaning crew for the rooms did bare minimum. Fixtures in room were broken. Overall look of hotel seemed as if they were operating on a shoe string budget. Most important issue manager (Margaret) was totally empathetic to guests concerns & never reached out when we specifically asked to speak with her. Would be leary of this one...stay next door at the Residence Inn.
