Homewood Suites by Hilton Tucson/St. Philip's Plaza University

We recently stayed at Homewood Suites while in Tucson for a long football weekend. We’ve stayed at Homewood Suites in other locations before, and in comparison this one seemed smaller in all aspects, but that is not an issue at all. The room was still good sized with everything we needed, the exercise room and breakfast room were never crowded, and the pool was wonderful- actually big enough to swim in! Breakfast had a good variety of choices and was plentiful. Everyone on staff was very friendly and helpful with our touristy questions. The location is a straight 20 minute drive from the airport and great for access to the University. The immediate area (across the parking lot) has 3 terrific restaurants, a coffee shop/bakery, and some shops. On the weekend there is also a wonderful outdoor craft fair from 10-3.

I loved your pool and greatly liked the hot tub with working jets and pretty clean .... leaves some but still better than most. Exceptional nice staff. Towels and tp at request thank you . .texting in passenger seat dwith bumps. Thanks

The property seems new/fresh but the room they sent us in was just vacated … dirty and not ready for us.

The hotel is in a great location as there are 3 restaurants right across the parking lot. The internet connection was not good at all & they want an extra fee for a faster one. For the hotel rate and as an honors member, it should be free and there was no desk in our room. The hotel has been remodeled, but it's been a while...the sofa was pretty worn and the kitchen had an old pan that absolutely no one should ever use. The coffee cups were extremely tiny and overflowed when used with the coffeemaker that was provided. The mattress was firm which is comfortable for me! One would never think that a comfort height toilet (just a couple inches taller than most), is a plus, but it certainly is and there was one in our bathroom! Overall, the room was comfortable and quiet. Would probably stay here again when the need arises.

We spent four nights at the Homewood Suites in Tucson. The all-suite hotel provided a quiet, comfortable place to stay during our brief vacation. The unit has a living room space and a partial kitchen (fridge, microwave, cooktop and dishwasher, but no oven). There is a separate bedroom that can be closed off from the living room. The bathroom was small but adequate - it had a shower but no tub. There was plenty of storage space. HVAC was quiet and worked well. We slept well all four nights. This was our first visit to Tucson. The city struck us as a sea of gut-wrenching, soul-sucking urban sprawl with miles and miles of clownishly-large streets and acres and acres of surface parking lots. It does, however, have a few islands of beauty. This hotel was located in St. James Plaza, one of those islands. It had a number of nice restaurants right across from the hotel. The restaurants share and surround a large courtyard that offers live music at night. There is also a Trader Joe's that is about ten minutes on foot from the hotel. Hotel amenities include a nice outdoor pool and hot tub, a small but sufficient fitness center, and a dining room serving a hot breakfast. It's not a gourmet breakfast but it offers the basics. There is a very nice coffee shop just steps away if you want something more than hotel fare and are willing to pay. Check-in and check-out were seamless. The free wifi worked well. Hotel staff was friendly and efficient. The hotel could use some upgrades, but the location at St. James Plaza offsets any other deficiencies. If we come back to the Tucson area we would be happy to stay there again.

I reserved this hotel due to the location and it really is a great spot. The staff is lovely and very accommodating. The room itself needed an air vent change (it was hairy and gross) and the A/C was so loud I opted to turn it off at night and be hot instead of be woken often. The road noise and hearing every step for the rooms above you indicates it's not well insulated. Breakfast was good and lots of options (including yummy Mexican food and chia pudding) and the area is walkable and cute. Bring ear plugs and grab a deal but I wouldn't reserve at full price.
