Far too expensive for what it offers! Breakfast only partially included (ex: you have to pay for avocado and a lot of other things which normally should be included), very annoing wasps and the staff doesn’t seem to care about it! No toilettes and no amenities on the beach, which is an improvisation with small umbrellas aside the hotel, only one pool bar serving no cocktails on the beach. Garden is very beautiful, the front staff is friendly and professional.

My wife and I love roadtripping through Mediterranean islands, and we always try to end our trips with a luxurious stay to relax before heading home. In Crete, we loved Domes of Elounda; in Taormina, the Four Seasons (pre–White Lotus) was spectacular. This year, we were excited to wrap up Sardinia at La Villa del Re, and for most of our stay, the property lived up to the expectations of an SLH member. Unfortunately, our experience took a sharp downturn just before checkout. After a lovely breakfast, we returned to our room to find the power out and the shower infested with ants. While power outages happen — an understandable inconvenience — discovering a swarm of ants in the shower was unacceptable, especially at this level. I’d rather not write a review than say anything negative I know things happen. What compelled me to write this review was the front desk’s astonishingly indifferent response: “Sorry, thank you for letting us know.” That was it. I’m not in hospitality, and yes, we were checking out — but a luxury hotel should know how to handle something like this better. A gesture as simple as offering another room to shower would have gone a long way. Instead, our final morning — when we hoped to unwind before a flight — was unpleasant and stressful. This was not the ending we had hoped for, and it left us questioning the standards of both La Villa del Re and the SLH collection more broadly.

Our stay at the Hotel La Villa del Re was so pleasurable. We were taken care of with immeasurable care and service. From the check-in glass of prosecco, the bountiful custom breakfast, the poolside bar and lounges, sandy beach, evening live entertainment and dining at the Bella Vista restaurant near the pool, the days were perfection. Their grounds are beautiful as is the setting at seaside. After the first evening, to change it up for dining, they referred us to a local restaurant, L’Aragosta, which was so delightful that we returned the following evening. On our final evening, we again dined at the Bella Vista where were again treated with a memorable experience. In fact, the local wine was so delightful that when I arrived home in the USA I ordered 6 bottles directly from the winery. To top it off, the staff came by upon our early morning departure and presented us with a box of chocolate truffles and a note from the management thanking us for our stay. What a fabulous and delightful experience.

I had a truly perfect and relaxing stay at La Villa Del Re in Sardinia. The atmosphere throughout the resort was calm and respectful. I noticed many mature couples, many returning guests, who came to spend meaningful time together. There was a real sense of connection among them — enjoying quiet conversations, being present with each other, and simply unwinding in a tranquil environment. The sea was crystal clear and ideal for swimming. While I do not usually swim in pools, I could not help but admire the resort’s stunning pool area, which offered breathtaking views over the sea and unforgettable sunrises each morning. The food was truly out of this world. I dined exclusively at Le Palme during my stay because every meal was exceptional. The variety, quality, and presentation were consistently impressive, and the waitstaff went above and beyond to ensure every detail was perfect. The maître d’ was especially attentive, ensuring that every detail of the service was perfect and making the experience even more memorable. The resort itself is set on lovely, well-maintained grounds right by the sea, offering a serene and picturesque setting throughout. The room amenities were also top-notch, with luxurious Bvlgari toiletries adding an extra touch of indulgence. This was a perfect stay by the sea — peaceful, elegant, and deeply relaxing. I would gladly return for another escape in this beautiful corner of Sardinia.

I’ve been there 3 times with my husband, since 2018, while alternating between other nice places in the Mediterranean. This year we just realized why bother looking for a beachfront experience when you have this incredible hotel. We go there for the beautiful sea, weather, but most of all because of the staff and experience of staying a long week just in the hotel. Always hard to describe to others who haven’t met the best team in luxury traveling. It’s the last place in the world when every time you sit down someone appears to gently pull your chair. Every single time during an entire week, wherever you are. This is a hotel to stay in all day and night. Great food, 2 restaurants, 2 beaches, private, adults only, a staff that could be working in Hollywood films for all their charisma. While it’s extremely unjust to pick names out of the big team that makes your stay perfect I have to send my thanks to young chef Sofia, who brought back a dessert from last year’s menu. Meeting her showed us that the kindness of the staff extends to every part of the hotel: front and back of the house. Thank you La Villa del Re team: you get everything right.

Wow, where to start. From arrival to departure La villa del Re is how we remembered from last year. All the staff were so welcoming and pleased to see us again. From Diego and Ivan in the le Palme restaurant to Matteo in the Bella vista. To all the waiting staff and Ivan the sommelier with his colleagues. All so helpful with everything. On reception being met by Francesca and Alesandro on his first season. Prisca was very helpful as well. We had the most wonderful 5 days. The swimming pool is amazing and to have the beach within walking distance is brilliant. You have the choice of a morning swim in the pool or sea. Very spoiling. The food at both restaurants was excellent and the breakfast is fantastic each morning. We were even made a pack up for the morning we left as we had to be on the road before breakfast started. A very thoughtful gesture. We are already trying to find the dates for next years trip. It truly is a very special hotel with wonderful staff.

My Fiancé and I have spent a week at this hotel, and have enjoyed staying here so much! We have spent most of our time lounging by the pool and the beach. The sea is crystal clear and warm! paradise! We also rented a car and visited Villasimius, and cagliari. The restaurants at the hotel are really nice, the food is great. Our favourite restaurant is down by the pool, we were sat with a view of the moon glistening on the sea. Breakfast in the mornings are nice too, they give you a complementary side platter including croissants/pastries, ham , cheese and fruit. I would definitely recommend sitting inside for breakfast because the ham on the platter attracts a lot of wasps. It’s a shame really, because you have a beautiful view of the sea outside. Overall, we would highly recommend this hotel, and would definitely come back in the future. Thankyou for having us.
