We have been coming for 10 years to the Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort as owners after finding it in Carlsbad Village on our first trip. It’s always a joy to be here. The resort is well maintained and updated as needed. We have observed a major maintenance project that cost several million dollars, and we were not assessed for any part of it. The GM, Randy Chaplin is very committed to operating within budget and had built a significant reserve fund to use for such unexpected expenses. All the staff are friendly and helpful and there’s never pressure to sit through an owner update or sales presentation. Room service is scheduled 3X during the week or you can call for any needs. Our day at Carlsbad can vary from biking (free) to bingo including swimming, grilling, shopping, beach fun, crafting, workouts, and dining. With so much to do, you never get bored and the weather in September is almost always ideal.

I love how clean and well-maintained the rooms and the entire resort are! Everything feels fresh, welcoming, and cared for in detail. The staff made the experience even better; everyone was kind, attentive, and helpful. I especially want to recognize Emma Guzman, Maria Valdez, Teresa Leduc, and Javier for going above and beyond to make my stay truly enjoyable. Their warmth and professionalism really stood out and made me feel right at home.

The grounds were beautiful and the staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive. Rafaela Vazquez kept our room immaculate and well stocked. Overall we had a lovely stay and look forward to returning next summer!

Stayed for the first week in May, had a very nice unit with a balcony, view of the property and ocean, as well as a good sized bedroom that closed off from the rest of the suite, which was very nice and allowed for my partner to rise early, have coffee, etc, while I slept in undisturbed. The service and staff were wonderful. The property and our room was very clean and aesthetically pleasing. My rating would be 5 star were it not for the absolutely horrible shower pressure and total lack of any breakfast offerings within the hotel. The shower head was one of those "rain" shower heads which tend to have lower water pressure, but this was ridiculous. It took FOREVER to properly rinse shampoo and then conditioner out of my medium length hair, making for a very frustrating and lengthy showering experience which I'm sure did not save any water at all, which I know is an important issue, particularly in California. Half-way through the week I just gave up and settled for giving my hair a rinsing sans shampoo. I did ask someone at the front desk if they could do anything about it. I'm not sure if they sent anyone to take a look, because we were gone for the rest of the day. But my next showering experience was no improvement. My only other disappointment was the fog which settled in for pretty much the entire week, making it impossible to see much of the ocean from our room. Nothing the hotel can do about that, of course, just our poor luck. All in all, I'm not sure I would stay here again. The showering experience was truly so frustrating that I'm not sure the hotel, grounds or location make up for it. For folks with very short or no hair, this would not be an issue. But it sure is for me. Also, I might add, I've traveled ALOT, both in this country and abroad, and I've NEVER experienced shower pressure this bad.

Timeshsre review: The evening after we checked in I called the front desk, advising that my wife was in a wheelchair and access to the bathroom, shower, and most of the bedroom were difficult or impossible to access. When I asked to be moved to an ADA-wheelchair accessible the agent advised she’d need to speak to the manager. The manager wasn’t available, but advised I would have a call back the next morning That was Sat night; as of Thurs, no call back. The bathroom entry is not wide enough for a wheelchair. The tub/shower is completely inaccessible. The deck has bar height chairs and a solid wood wall. It was unusable for a person with limited mobilty. Please see my photos. The bedroom area is a tight fit and only a few feet are accessible. There are only 3 handicap parking space available in the garage. Only one works well for a wheelchair. One space has all of the luggage carts blocking one side. One space is next to the laundry and the staff parks big tots by the access way Our stay was anything but relaxing.
