Property Description
Experience True New Mexico in this traditional Adobe home in Carlsbad. Built in the 1920s, this home has been lovingly updated to modern standards while keeping its rustic charm. Wood ceilings, southwestern decor, & thick adobe walls for peace and quiet. Upstairs there is a kitchen, large living room with 2 sofas & formal dining room. Downstairs in the daylight basement, 3 bedrooms with 2 queen beds & 2 twins. Sleeps up to 8 guests! Great location- walk to Albertsons or CVS or restaurants! We love this house because it feels so sturdy and cozy, like it's been here a 100 years ( because it has!) but it still has the modern amenities. It has both central air& heat (upstairs only) and mini split AC units in each bedroom( downstairs). Thick adobe walls keep the noise of the world and the New Mexico wind out, so it is peaceful and quiet inside. The location is safe and convenient- walkable to the center hub of town, but on a well lit residential street set back from the main road. We are about 30 minutes from the caverns. Upstairs we have the living room with dark rustic wood ceilings and original hardwood floors decorated with comfy leather chesterfield sofas ( sleep 2 people if your group has 8), antique coffee table and southwestern pottery/ art/ rugs. The home has WiFi and TV with Roku lets you login to your streaming accounts. There is a stocked kitchen with stainless steel large fridge, dishwasher, and electric range. We provide coffee and tea and spices to get you started, and the little eat-in area seats 2. More seating in the spacious formal dining room with vintage dining set. Access to the backyard is through the kitchen to the large shady fully fenced yard and back patio. Downstairs in the daylight basement there are three bedrooms ( two queen beds, two twin beds) and the full bathroom. Bedrooms have solid wood bedframes, fluffy cotton European duvets and fuzzy throw blankets, plenty of space, desk/ seating areas, and a few toys for the kids. In the bathroom, we provide body wash, shampoo, and conditioner plus fresh clean towels for our guests. See our guidebook for tips and suggestions of what to do during your stay. Our Home is professionally cleaned and we pay our cleaners a living wage, so you help the local economy by staying here, plus you get an authentic New Mexico experience! Local hosts are responsive and ready to give tips on the local area or address any issues or concerns. The stay was fantastic!! The AC kept the entire upstairs cool and the 3 bedrooms in the basement stayed extremely cool— almost cold! But don’t worry, there are extra blankets in the hall closet! The kitchen was clean and tidy and cooking was a breeze! The ice maker did not work during our stay so we did buy a LOT of ice for our drinks!! The back yard is fenced in and our four legged creature (Echo) loved it! Plenty of room to chase her ball! The neighborhood is quiet- next to a school, across from a church, and we had no issues or problems! There is a gas station/quickstop, grocery store, and a CVS all within a few blocks. Traffic was light, and driving was easy. I would definitely stay again! The house and neighborhood are fantastic!!

Property is fair overall, but had cockroaches. I’d recommend getting the property sprayed for bugs.

Good spot for exploring the nearby national parks Nice enough - lots of space. The only complaint was the steep stairs to the bedrooms and no baby gate. There was also a rather big step to get to the shower and toilet which seemed a bit odd/dangerous especially for kids/people with mobility issues.

Comfortable And Spacious First stay in Carlsbad. The location of the home was great, it was close to a grocery store, pharmacy and a variety of restaurants. The home itself had everything we needed. It was very spacious, everyone had their own bed. Each bedroom had its own air unit, so we were able to customize our temperature. The beds felt great after a couple days of hiking. We enjoyed having our meals together at the spacious dining room table. It was quite clean and overall the house was in good shape. Nothing was broken or dirty, and we felt very comfortable during our stay. Would recommend it.

Not a great experience There were essential needs that were not provided:1. No paper towels in kitchen2. No tissues in bathrooms3. No mirrors in any of the bedrooms so one could not get thoroughly dressed and hair combed as the two bathrooms were usually occupied4. Something like coffee was provided but it tasted awful and we had no idea what it was5. One of the queen-sized bedrooms had nothing to place a suitcase on and so it was put on the floor and hard to accessThese issues may not sound important but they were very important to our comfort.
