The hotel located within walking distance to town centre. The room is very spacious but dated. The carpet smelled damp and need replacement. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was great.

I was attending a meeting at the hotel not staying. I am slightly disabled needing to use a mobility walker and travel alone. So the car park and entrance to the hotel is either gravel or cobbled. Which is extremely difficult to navigate on wheels! IGod knows how you cope in a wheelchair or a buggy with a baby on your own. Itwas a nightmare trying to cope by myself. Then try to get in the hotel with two sets of stiff double doors. It was impossible on my own as no help available and no one else going in or out at that moment so involved holding door open while needing two hands for the walker. It was very embarrassing highly distressing to look so foolish. Plus I then had to find my way to the meeting room which again involved stiff double doors - no help but why should I have to rely on strangers for help anyway? So it might have nice bedrooms but god help you if you are disabled

I rang to confirm our check in time before our stay and the man on the phone was extremely rude and short with me. I think he said his name was Colm or Connor I couldn’t make out which one he said. He was extremely rude on the phone. He made smart short remarks about changing our check in time. The entire phone call he had a snappy tone as if I was inconveniencing him by simply calling. This left very a sour taste before even staying in our room . I would recommend providing him with better customer service training because he did not leave a very good impression at all.

Killer. Stay here. Staff are great. And food amazing. Also great sauna and great town to explore. Not too touristy. Great for weekend away……

I’ve been here a number of times now, for good reason. The hotel is lovely, the food is lovely (the chowder is divine) and most importantly, the staff are lovely - they appear to genuinely enjoy working here, have a laugh and will go the extra mile (Colin and Mark - looking at you!). The building has a lovely history and has been maintained with lovely furnishings and comfortable spaces. Thank you for making my trip to Carlow memorable and easy for a traveller a long way from home xT

We attended a function at the Hotel on the 19th August, we retired to our room on the 3rd floor at approx 11.30 pm. As there is no air condition in the room we opened the window, the night was balmy. we could hear a male voice of a dialect we did not understand speaking very loudly on his mobile phone, at that stage it was not a problem. By 3 am it was !!!!!!!!!!! We rang down to the reception and it was finally dealt with, banging on my window and shouting to him did not have any effect up to then. we complained to the manager on checking out of the hotel and she said the porter had not mentioned the incident to her and she would look into it and call me the next morning. Well i have just received her excuse and it was that a guest was smoking outside a security door, where there was no alarm on the door and no CCTV footage, what that tells you about the security of the guests is amazing. I am very skeptical as I know what I heard. The hotel public areas are dirty and the lift needs attention . AVOID THIS HOTEL , AT ALL COSTS, Veronica Lyons Dublin

We paid €100.75 for three people starter and mains. The starter was spiced beef on chips about two tablespoons of flavourless meat on luke warm greasy chips. Main was chicken supreme which appeared to be very small piece of chicken that resembled a budgie. Flavourless, meal was total disaster as I was given a gift card from my family member. The only good news is we got out alive. Bad service and hardly nobody spoke good English which made things difficult. Not recommended. I only put one star so I could write the review. Please avoid
