Guest house was lovely, but room I stayed in was small with separate toilet. If I went back would book a ensuite room. As other guests were using same toilet and shower which was slippery if someone else had used shower. Owners were lovely and helpful. Didn't have breakfast there but other guests staying there said it was lovely.£10 per person for traditional English breakfast or continental. Would definitely recommend it but stay in ensuite with your own toilet and shower

I really don't know where to begin! What an absolutely beautiful place. On arrival at the front of the property the outside was stunning with Autumn bushes and decorations. The Cartref is a self serve check in,everything was straight forward and easy. Car parking passes and instructions for my stay were left for my arrival. On entering my room I was blown away the attention to detail was outstanding. I was greeted by a complementary tray of goodies plus toiletries and a comfy bathrobe. A foot spa was also in my room,plus hot water bottles should I require them but the room was cosy and warm so no need. The bathroom was something else multi coloured lighting in the shower cubical, luxury toiletries and very clean. There was a hard backed book in the room with plenty of information, emergency numbers,doctors, places to visit and eat ect (nice touch ). Free WiFi and a mini fridge should you require to store anything cold. Everywhere I looked there was something else the owners clearly have their guests at heart. It really did feel like home from home. Thank you so much to Melanie 10/10 I definitely will be returning!

Wonderful experience from check in to check out. Car pass given for parking, large, comfy room with nice little trinkets. Located on the edge of town so only a few minutes walk to shops, bars, restaurants. Fantastic breakfast, plenty of ill options, I went for the full English. Great ingredients and very well cooked too.

A great place to stay if visiting Carlisle. Our room was large, clean and well-equipped. Considering its central location , it was extremely quiet at night so we had a good night’s sleep followed by a hearty breakfast. Melanie is the perfect hostess with nothing too much trouble

Would highly recommend the Cartref guest house. The room was cosy, clean and modern. It’s like home from home the host (Melanie) was very personable and friendly, nothing was too much trouble and will cater to your needs. Overall and lovely and relaxing experience

We really enjoyed our stay. Everything was beyond expectation. The breakfast was delicious and the owner went out of her way to ensure we had information as well as suggestions to make our vacation better.
