We stayed one night while walking Hadrian’s Wall. The room was very nice, a good size and we liked the fresh milk in the fridge instead of the little plastic cartons. Staff were very relaxed and helpful. Dinner exceeded our expectations; it really was very tasty. The lemon possett for dessert was exceptional, so 5 stars for that. As some other reviewers have noted, there was slight disorganisation: the side salad we ordered never came although we weren’t charged for it. In the morning another party had ordered packed lunch but it had not been made, whereas we had not ordered one but they had made one for us. These things aren’t mission critical so if you can live with that, the basics are very good so go for it.

Excellent value. A welcoming staff with first class food - both evening meal and breakfast. Particular thanks to Mia and her team for making my brother and me welcome after a day of trekking on Hadrian’s Wall path. Hazel also deserves a mention for her inspired choice of morning music!

Carlisle centre is a building site, so decided to try hotel somewhere nearby. What an absolutely delightful find. Stayed 4 nights, our rooms were immaculate, beds so very comfortable, could not fault one thing! The food was delicious. There were 4 of us , so over the 4 days we sampled most of the menu. The breakfasts were huge and could (and did) set one up for the day. One of our group is a strict vegetarian , and could not have better catered for. The staff were all helpful and welcoming. Would return in a heartbeat

Friendly
Friendly place with helpful and friendly staff. Almost charged me a lot more with a bill mix-up, but that felt like a 'lack of training' issue on the computer system. Breakfast was good, didn't have dinner.
