Matlacha on Shoreview

The property itself is beautiful. Staff was very kind and professional. The grounds are well maintained and lovely. The unit had a broken sofa bed - left leg is breaking off and you sink down when you sit. Horrible to sleep on. It was late at night when we went to sleep we did not want to call the property and wake someone up. We opened the sofa bed and no sheets or pillow cases were provided. all that was in the closet were two pillows and a comforter and they knew four people were staying there as we had to give all of our names and it was booked for four guests.Our friends who slept in the bedroom, said the bed squeaked very loudly every time they moved and there was a gentleman on the phone in the next room up until 1:30 in the morning, talking on the phone for over an hour and a half telling someone how to fix something over the phone. They heard every single word he said. When we shut the bedroom door for them for privacy at night, the air did not circulate very well in there at all so they were very hot. So needless to say the four of us did not sleep well at all the entire night. All of this being said it was still a beautiful place to stay if the walls weren’t so thin and bedding was more comfortable. Perhaps another unit would be better to stay in if you book this property. .

Quiet little cottages. Just right for a couple

Booked via AMEX Travel. Arrived in the evening, office was closed so called an after hour number. Stacy answered and demanded my credit card information/photo id to be texted to her. I had receipts from my travel agent, but she claimed she needed a deposit to stay the night. This made me feel extremely uncomfortable. Stacy refused to come in person to office, so I stated I would provide information, but I would be leaving these details in the review of the hotel. She then agreed to come, but I would have to wait… around an hour later she walked over from next door, where a party was going on. She appeared intoxicated. I provided my ID and credit card at which point she asked my 76 year old father/mother to “get out of her office”… feeling threatened I asked for a refund as this experience was not acceptable. Stacy then threw my cards across the table and demanded I get out before she called the police. She then walked back next door yelling at my elderly parents and me. This was the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel, and recommend anyone steer clear.
