Travelodge by Wyndham Calhoun South I-75

Definitely could’ve been a better experience, but the workers were sweet.

On our way home from Florida to Orillia, Ontario. I made the booking from the car. The hotel was dumpy and when I walked into the room, I was greeted by a cockroach scurrying on the bed. My eye caught another disappearing into a fold of the bed cover and so I immediately picked up my bag - my husband was behind me and as soon as he saw it he turned - didn't even put his bag down. We went back to the desk - the clerk had gone to get food so while we waited I was on hold with Best Western customer service. When she returned, I hung up and explained that we weren't staying and why. She apologized, said she would have maintenance look at the room and said not to worry - she hadn't processed the credit card so we won't be charged. We went across the street and took a room that was double the price - it was late, we were tired, and at least we knew the hotel we went to was going to be clean. After 2 calls to customer service, a manager named "Diana" according to the clerk, denied our refund. So now we're out $90 American dollars - I am done with Best Western.

We stayed in RM 114, this was the NASTIEST room I have ever stayed in. The stench coming from the room was putrid and now that I am putting my pajamas on tonight it is obvious the stench was in the mattress and probably the carpet since it appears to have not been vacuumed in weeks, maybe months. On the carpet was a dental floss pick, under the desk was trash, under the vanity was trash. Flies in the room one of them dead on the bathroom vanity laying in a ring from a previously used cup what was not cleaned up. Sheets that we either stained or dirty, who knows? Pennies sitting under the toilet. In the morning we didn’t even want to use the towels who knows how clean those were and to top it off I took the bath mat and used my foot to brush it along the bathroom floor and mind you that was with a dry towel, hate to see what a wet towel would have pulled up. I laid most of the night thinking I paid $75.00 for this room. I was expecting it to be run down and it was, but I expected it to be clean. We have had a handful of Wyndham’s in the past 3 weeks that we very subpar for Wyndham, but after this hotel in Calhoun GA, I’m done. The girl at the front desk was very nice and I’m sorry I vented on her, but whoever is paid to clean the rooms needs to be fired…
