We have visited this place numerous times over the past 10 or 12 years and it has never disappointed us. We usually go for the all inclusive package and visit in the half term in October, and have always had great weather. We really enjoy the choice of villas that are available. They are always clean and very well looked after. There are some beautiful views from the villas and all located not too far from the main restaurant and swimming pools. The pools are lovely and clean and well maintained. There are numerous bars on site with a great selection of drinks for everyone’s preference. On this visit we booked to have dinner at the Mexican restaurant (Palo Santo) and the Brazilian restaurant (Rodizio). The food was amazing, fresh and cooked to perfection. We also ate at the buffet restaurant Mafasca the rest of the time where the food was equally as good and the choice at all restaurants was amazing. Our children have always had a fantastic time at Barcelo from being small all the way through to now being young adults. There’s plenty to do in the area with a local shopping centre, local market, numerous bars and restaurants and the hotel can accommodate a good number of excursions. The hotel is located by a lovely harbour where you can sit and relax and watch an amazing sunset. The staff at the hotel are always very helpful, polite and cannot do enough for you. They also speak many languages so no problem if you are not fluent in English or Spanish. The cleaning team, bar staff and restaurant staff all work extremely hard also. We can’t recommend this place enough!

Brilliant thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Barcelo Castillo. We had booked a superior one bedroomed bungalow and upgraded to a Seaview. Overlooking the beach. The whole process was seamless. Staff in all areas were very hard working. Especially having to explain why everything is contactless payments only. Cash is no longer king. However it was a very relaxing break. We will return although possibly try the Royal Level next time. Have used Barcelo on many occasions now and have always been impressed with the standard.

Just spent a week at Castillo. We had a really nice time. As people say the staff are great friendly and helpful. Buffet very extensive plenty of choice. The Mexican restaurant is good however we found the Brazilian restaurant lacking in atmosphere and food rather bland. Overall very good holiday. There is a need for maintenance throughout the site.

We had a lovely holiday, food unfortunately got a bit repetitive, but in fairness to the catering team there was always something for everyone. Pools and entertainment 100% even more, just fantastic. Only complaint was the pull out bed (room 3125) our daughter slept in there, she is of normal height etc.... The bruises left on her legs from getting in and out the bed were awful, it was just to make you aware for future guests. Please find enclosd photographs

We originally booked a bungalow with a separate bedroom. Upon arrival, we were told we had been upgraded to a suite. The reality? The suite is 12 m² smaller and there is no separate room for our daughter. In other words, we ended up in a less convenient room that simply did not match what we had chosen. (Room 3025, in case you want to check.) On top of that, I had an email agreement to apply my -10% discount code. But when we arrived, the hotel suddenly played with words and decided it only applied to certain meal plans. We are talking about a gesture of €30 on a €1000 booking — clearly too much generosity for Barceló. Very classy — really makes you want to be a loyal Barceló customer. And then there’s the so-called all inclusive. Honestly, it’s a joke. A frappé coffee? Extra €3. Change a towel? €2 per towel. Not all restaurants are included. The alcohol? Cheap low-quality brands only — if you want anything drinkable, you have to pay extra. We’ve done plenty of all-inclusive stays, and Barceló’s version is by far the weakest. The buffet was nearly identical every day — thankfully we only stayed 3 nights, otherwise it would have been unbearable. The kids’ club? Only open in the mornings, poorly maintained, and frankly disappointing. Not exactly what you expect from a supposed family-friendly resort. If you want guests to return, perhaps start by actually delivering what you sell, instead of downgrading rooms under the name of an upgrade, serving bottom-shelf drinks, and hiding behind fine print for a few euros.

Definitely not 4 star. On arrival everything seemed ok, reception staff very friendly, advised to get something to eat and come back in a couple of hours for room. Restaurant- food lukewarm/ cold. Waiters/ waitress don't want to be there, you have to try and attract their attention, 1st evening this took over 30 mins ( by which point we'd eaten our meal) 2nd night over 45 mins ( eaten dinner and desert) 3rd night gave up after 1 hour went to the front desk and asked instead- we got drinks. Room- our room had ants we complained several times, told the only thing they could do was use pesticides ( not an option with a premature baby and 2 adults that suffer from asthma) shown another room, again had ants pointed this out to guest relations/ experience who wiped ant with her hand and then said she couldn't see it! Told only way not to have ants was an upstairs room. Ants crawl. Pointless as ment we had to carry pram up stairs, we booked this as it was a superior bungalow, the only thing superior about the room is how disgusting it is, mould in cupboards, stains on bed lining, stains on sofa, rust, seal around door hanging off, wallpaper hanging off in places, Aircon drips water, tiles in bathroom cracked, you get a bottle of water in the room on arrival and that's it, you either have to buy from over priced shop on site, walk to hippo dina or have it in a cup from machine not really an option when ants are in the room.I could go on. Ants even got in the baby's milk ( sealed container my fault for not bagging it and locking it in suitcase, it must of been opened when we were out, jet 2 no help, told to get flights home! Spent most days and evenings at the mar which is a walk away but worth it, pool is heated, snack bar is lovely, restaurant is lovely, you genuinely wouldn't think they are both barcelo. Pools- cold, not heated, female lifeguard will not allow inflatables in the pool, including baby's swim ring (I get big inflatables but a baby's swim ring come on) their is NO shade here, jet 2 says family friendly, but it's not, or jet 2 has a very different outlook in what classes as family friendly. Needless to say will never return to this hotel, fueraventura or Barcelo. Not all inclusive - pay for towels- pay for certain drinks- only Ice cream Una teddy bear one which I think is chocolate and vanilla but it doesn't tate of any thing. The show bar/ area is at the harbour the walkway there is broken in several places and is a accident waiting to happen you have to be very careful. The restaurants/ bars that are not inside the complex i.e looking over beach / harbour let in paying customers who get priority over half board or all inclusive. The "hotel" offers self catering, bed and breakfast, half board and all inclusive so they are more interested in who they can make money from today.

Lovely hotel in perfect location. Rooms are individual bungalows with a terrace which has sunbeds and table and chairs. Food was typical all inclusive offering, drinks are very good. It was lovely to use the bar at the harbour in our all inclusive, we spent a couple of hours down there every day. The only criticism I have of this hotel is that there is not enough seating at the bar in an evening, yes you can use the other hotel but sometimes did not want to walk there. La Perlita is a lovely bar overlooking the beach, they give you 20% of food and drink if you are AI at Barceló. I would definitely go back to this hotel.

We really enjoyed our vacation and felt all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The instructors for yoga and stretching were great. Plenty of sun loungers at pools and lovely location on edge of a bay with great selection of activities. Special thanks to Nela and Sandra who ensured I had my dietary needs addressed in the buffet restaurant. Carmelo is always so happy and pleasant carrying out his duties and interacting with all age groups. Caroline the deputy manager was fantastic at resolving a power cut at the start of the break. Despite this hiccup it was such a great relaxing break that we booked 10 days next year before we had finished this break

Check in was straight forward if a little protracted. We were given a map circling our accommodation, shown which gate to use, and that was that. It was dark and the area was poorly lit It took us a good 10 minutes to find our upper floor ‘bungalow’. It was spacious and clean although poorly kitted out for self catering accommodation, We were booked on half board so not a problem. I had requested somewhere with a glimpse of the sea, but we were given one at the side of a road., which added to the low flying aircraft was quiet noises. When asked we were told they were fully booked so no chance of a change. View from the balcony was, sadly, like looking at an inner city, but we did appreciate having sun Ed’s on balcony which were sheltered from the wind. We didn’t experience any power cuts, though know some bungalows did. Our hotel maid did a lovely job and everywhere was kept clean. The walkways were also kept clean by hard working staff. Breakfast was ok, lots of choice though at times one had to hunt for bowls for cereals etc. Some mornings bacon was undercooked, other days over cooked! Evening meal times were chaotic at best. A fairly good choice, but was often barely warm. Added to this having children chasing around the dining area shouting at each other was really disappointing. (Not to mention dangerous whilst people were walking around with plates full of food not the staffs fault). We realised we should have booked adult only area, or b and b. to make the most of our holiday. However, the swimming pool areas were really nice and entertainment was good and several bars overlooking the ocean. The location of the resort is lovely, Barcelo resorts is huge and dominate the whole of the sandy bay. With a rocky coastline on the other side of the small peninsula. All of the staff we encountered were hard working, very polite and friendly. Caleta itself is relatively small resort with various bars serving food, a few shops and the market. Would we go to Barcelo Fuerteventura Castilo again no. But we would try a different Barcelo resort.
