It has great potential as a manner park hotel with lively big grounds to explore unfortunately it’s not well kept & in need of renovation. I found this is a common problem with mostly stately home or manor house hotels in UK lacking of maintance maybe too costly ??

The manor is located on the grounds of the extensive Buxted Park outside Uckfield, past the St Margaret the Queen Church. The handsome Georgian manor was re-modelled after the war with additional wings incorporated in the overall design. The interior of the main house was kept in the original style, with high ceilings, chandeliers and the impressive main staircase. It contained only the suite rooms. The check-in was very efficient and friendly. Our Classic Double Room was on the ground floor overlooking the colonnaded façade of the main house. It was of good size and had ample storage including a large wardrobe. Tea and coffee facilities were provided as well as the fridge with bottled water. Our king-sized bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was rather tight, with shower screen interfering with the door. Bathrobes and slippers were provided. We had a menu dinner at the hotel and it was excellent, with a good selection of wines at a great value. Breakfast was equally good with a nice selection of cold and hot dishes on the menu, alongside baked breads, fruit and juices. The staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly enthusiastic Ben at reception, nothing was too much trouble for him. We loved our stay there, highly recommend it. Another gem in the Hand Picked family!

What really stands out here is the calibre of staff - they are all, without exception, friendly, efficient and accommodating. Nothing is too much trouble for them to make your stay as perfect as possible. They all seemed happy in their work which is not so common nowadays. The hotel grounds are absolutely superb and it is so tranquil and peaceful it was a joy to just sit and listen to the breeze rustling through the trees and the sounds of the birds. We were there for the Dinner With A Bank evening which was a set menu preceded with canapés and cocktails and followed by a firework display - the evening was thoroughly enjoyable! Would we return…..most certainly!

We returned to Buxted for our 10th wedding anniversary after we were married there in 2015. Nothing was too much trouble! They made our anniversary so memorable with special touches. The food was exquisite and the service was second to none. A truly wonderful place in the most beautiful setting would highly recommend!

The hotel was absolutely lovely, and the rooms were outstanding ! Spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The service was amazing throughout our stay, with staff going above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The only downside was the restaurant, which felt a bit overpriced for what we got, though the quality of service there was still excellent.

First impressions count, and to be quite honest they werent that great. Our Queen Mary suite was not ready at 3pm. We werent offered a tea/coffee whilst waiting and eventually got into suite at 3.30.. We were asked to wait in the bar and could charge a drink to our room..not very impressive in a luxury hotel. The first impression of the room wasnt that great either, it was cold and uninviting. But once we turned the heat up and switched the elegant lights on it was fine, and by a long way the biggest hotel room weve ever had, its huge. We did ask for an ice bucket and it was in our suite when we arrived but we had to use a towel as there wasnt a napkin to put round the bottle. The TV is fixed to the wall and no matter where you sit you cant really see the screen Why isnt it on an adjustable bracket. ? Coffee machine didnt work. Big thanks to Tricia, what a lovely lady who replaced it. There is also a kettle and the usual tea/coffee/biscuits and a real plus fresh milk in the fridge Bathroom is enormous...... it was lovely and very fluffy towels and robes but again attention to detail, one of the downlights wasnt working. The slippers must have been the cheapest available... there is also a dressing room and plenty of storage. We had a really restful night, the bed is a super king size and very comfortable and the pillows are so soft. Didnt want to get out ..we really enjoyed laying in bed looking out over the park. The wifi was way above average.. Unfortunately For a 4/5* luxury hotel there is a lack.of attention to detail and in a hotel of this quality that is unacceptable. Last year we stayed at Chilston Park, part of the same Handpicked Hotels group and it was better. ( like our stay here Mrs KT's birthday ) and thats why we cant give a 5 rating We had dinner in the restaurant. It really was lovely and the service faultless, please thank the chefs. Just had breakfast and we both felt it was the best hotel breakfast we've had apart from the orange juice. It was out of a bottle and watered down. Highly recommend the smoked mackerel and scrambled eggs, Mrs KT praised the omelette. So would we stay again ? Yes, but it just needs a little more attention to detail.

Top experience - thanks Marc! Me and a group of friends had Sunday lunch in the restaurant to celebrate a birthday. We had recommended this venue for the celebration because of a wedding we attended back in April which was wonderful. The Sunday lunch menu had a wide choice of options. I went for the prawn and crab cocktail to start with and the roast loin of pork with crackling and all the trimmings for the main. The food was delicious and so filling that I could only manage a fruit salad for dessert. The service was first class and brought to life through Marc, who is a unique character and the perfect front of house host that all establishments would love to have on their books. Marc thinks he is French but he really is Italian! What a wonderful, memorable, fun experience Marc created for our lunch party. Thank you! What an inspiration and world class service experience you deliver! We’re looking forward to returning for a third time next month, to attend a charity night.
