Property Description
Over 4000 sq ft. of space with tons of light, views and historic character.
Four large bedrooms, two baths, a kitchen — and an absolutely enormous loft-like open space not to mention 15 foot ceilings, make for an experience unlike any other in Big Sky country. A raised area all along the south windows would be the instant focus for entertaining and also an endless source of inspiration as a sitting room or even a home office.
The space
Originally built to house the “manual arts” department at Butte High School, the building lost its purpose when the high school moved in 1938. (The main old high school building burned to the ground in 1946.) During World War II the Manual Arts Building served as a military induction center, and later would house the Butte Business College. Then, for years, the nearby Masonic Temple used it for its youth programs, DeMolay and Rainbow Girls.
Because of the building’s original construction as a school facility, the stairways are immense, more than eight feet wide. Everywhere, the light streams in — more and more as you go to the upper floors. Pets are welcome, but we do charge an extra $50 cleaning fee to make sure the space is usable for guests that might have pet allergies.
Guest access
Please note the loft is on the 4th floor of this building and requires some significant climbing up the large sets of stairs. If you or anyone in your party are not comfortable with this set up, our place might not be the best for you. Access into the building is a set code that will be given out the day of your arrival. There is another door (that will have the same code) to enter the loft space.About pets:Pets allowed: dogs and cats (limit 1 total).About checkOut:Check out before 11:00 AM.About children:Children allowed: ages 0-17.About checkIn:Check in after 4:00 PM.About smoking:Smoking is not permitted.About minBookingAge:Minimum age to rent: 21.About events:No events allowed.

This property is stunning with old history which I love! They have a little bit of everything for their guests .. it’s very dark inside though so it is hard to know what they have if you get there late like we did . The rooms are well done but the beds are not as comfortable as they look. The room to the right of the stairs has the most comfortable bed . Kids would love this place!! Please be aware you have 85 steps to the rooms! Parking is great ,lots of great restaurants within walking distance. The owners are great with communication , that helps if you get in late like we did. I would stay here again.

Great property if you have a large group. Location is within walking distance of downtown. Jeff was an amazing host who responded quickly to all question. Would highly recommend this location. Just know though it is a pent house in a historic building so there are a lot of stairs.

Place was great! Had 10 of us stay there for a golf trip and this spot was perfect. So much space, walking distance to everything and the place itself had everything for entertainment.

Cute loft in historic Butte
The place itself was large and comfortable to stay in. Jeff, the host, was quick in getting back to me when I had questions. There were quite a bit of stairs getting up, but thats to be expected as it is a loft listing. Would stay here again if we go back to Butte

Such a beautiful space!
We loved our stay at Jeff's place. The space was a perfect fit for our family. We loved the openness and had plenty of room. Our kids loved the ping pong table! The view was amazing! It was perfect for watching the late night fireworks on the 4th! Jeff was easy to reach and quick to respond. We will definitely be back.

Lots of room and such a unique home. It’s close to bars and uptown, so walking is possible.

Awesome place to stay for a weekend trip
Stayed here during a weekend girls trip to Butte. A beautiful historic building. Lots of stairs to get in and out of the property but wasn't an issue. The views from the big windows made the climb worth it! Jeff was helpful with the check-in process.

5 Stars – Perfect Stay with an Incredible Host!
We had a fantastic experience staying here with our 6th grade class and chaperones! From the start, our host was absolutely amazing—super communicative, kind, and incredibly helpful in working with us to figure out the best sleeping arrangements for our group. They went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and well taken care of. The location was ideal and the accommodations couldn’t have been better—clean, spacious, and perfectly suited for our needs. We’re so grateful for the hospitality and would absolutely stay here again!
