Db San Antonio Hotel + Spa All Inclusive

This hotel is definitely not 4 star worthy. 3 star is what it should be. The staff were lovely. Food and drinks were great. But the hotel was over packed and busy, which I expected as it was summer holidays but only till you get there do you find out anyone can buy a pass to the pool. Therefore the swimming pool is so busy you can’t get sun loungers and the pool is overpacked with children. Not only this the restaurants are too open to the public. So the restaurants are hugely busy at times not finding a table of 5 for our family with random bits of the restaurant closed off this was very frustrating. The rooms were okay however mine was not sound proofed and next to the stairs so was awoken at 7am to loud clanking up and down. My air-con broke and the tv would turn on when it turned on so I slept poorly. Shower didn’t drain properly. On my final night I washed some clothes and hung them to dry over night, only to find out that the water from the pool above can spill on the balconies above and then drain directly into my balcony, disgusting. Over all for 5 nights I would have payed £400 max not the outrageous £900 I payed.

Excellent stay at a superb hotel. Arrived at lunchtime on friday 27th june, very quick friendly checkin but could not get our room till 3, has the run of the hotel, but disappointed not to get room straight away. Room no 464 was as clean as the rest of the hotel, spacious with good storage, coffee making facilities, comfortable twin beds, air conditioning, and a great sea view. All inclusive restaurants were varied all week with excellent choices every day. Also, the opportunity to book at the other restaurants in the hotel. Normal queue when pool opened for the put your towel on a sunbed, but as we were sightseeing most days we were not phased as we could get a sun bed in the afternoon. Bar staff superb and choice of drinks very good. Any queries were always answered by excellent friendly hard working staff, no issues throughout our stay, thankyou Edada for the towel sculptures and keeping our room immaculate. A family-friendly hotel with an excellent adults only roof top infinity pool. Bus station only a 5 minutes walk with a 4 day unlimited use ticket only €19 a great way to explore the island. Very well stocked supermarket a 2 min walk. Highly recommend.

First impressions are usually right, and we were not impressed by our first morning, we were given a pool view room ,as asked for, but it was at ground level so as such we didn't have the fabulous sea views enjoyed by most other rooms in the hotel,never mind, the room was clean with a quality powerful shower,more than adequate . We ventured down to the mainpool after breakfast but didn't last long, massive parasols went up everywhere that literally blocked the sun, not good if you like sunbathing, and the place quickly filled with kids, not a criticism in itself just an observation, we personally like the quieter life now, luckily we found the adults only rooftop bar..it was heaven, infinity pool, quiet, great bar area, our holiday was saved. Plus points: food was exceptionally good in the main dining area, very hard to fault it, praise must also go to the oriental restaurant,again, exceptional.alcoholic drinks were generally good with decent measures and the staff were all very friendly.As for cleanliness very hard to fault, literally an army of supervised cleaners took to the pool area each morning , whilst again, our service was faultless. Negative point: hotel layout slightly confusing on arrival, the lift system in particular wasn't explained very well, but once you know it's quite good, perhaps a porter to take guests to their room on arrival?. As said , first impressions are usually right, ours was wrong, the hotel obviously does its best striking a balance to cater for children/ families but also couples wanting a quieter time, they actually succeed in pulling it off,no mean feat. I'd go back, in a lovely area, not far from the airport (with a good sports bar a stones throw across the road)..family holiday or a quiet one ?..this place does both exceptionally well. We've just returned from a week at this hotel and overall we were a bit disappointed with the hotel and the surrounding resort. Positives - Hotel facilities were great and very clean and well appointed. House keeping was excellent. Room cleaned every day by Faruk who was so friendly and professional. Pool area brilliant and the entertainers did a great job getting the guests involved in various activities. Bus station nearby and the buses around the island are cheap and really easy to use. Get the bus app on your phone. It's great. Negatives- The food. We were half board but found that the buffet offerings were very average and a bit bland. I know catering for hundreds of guests must be tough but it wasn't to our tastes. We were so disappointed that we ate out 3 nights out of the 7 at a local restaurant (Michelle's, try it, it's great). Some people raved about the food but I don't know why. We even tried the themed restaurants as part of our package deal but they were also very average. The area around the hotel left a lot to be desired in our opinion and we even struggled to find anywhere nice to go for an evening drink before dinner. Again some say it's great for local bars and restaurants but we must have missed them!! So overall I guess it depends what you want from a hotel / resort but it wasn't to our liking and we won't be back.
