Room 4 - in need of refurbishment. 1st impression - fusty smell on arrival and sight of scruffy tub chair peeling arms! Soft uncomfortable beds - winter weight duvets. We ate a good cooked breakfast each of our 4 day stay. Thank you Sarah. (Coffee/tea/toast charged as extras) No fruit or cereal option? We also dined each night in the restaurant. Food was good. TT Landlord beer also good. Thank you Cody and colleagues. Location and parking good. Used bus route nearby for Lytham / St Annes visits. Overall: Bar/dining good. Room - tired!

This hotel is about 4 miles from lytham and few more from st.annes. on arrival we were initially ignored by the bar lady but after a few minutes waiting pleasant chap checked us in. Our room was very spacious..the bed comfty enough and shower pretty good. Think the room would benefit from a different color paint and few paintings. Very basic and sparse but does have everything you need. Luckily it had a fan as was hot hot. We chose not to eat here no reason so cant comment on food.

Brilliant service and great food. Lovely decor. Ramp outside and ramps inside too, plus a disabled toilet if required. Very well kept both outside and in. We pre-booked online, as it was a birthday celebration. Loads of tables. I bet it is very cosy in winter as well, as I saw a fireplace. I think there's a beer garden too. Highly recommend. (can't comment on the rooms, as we didn't stay over but given the restaurant part being lovely, I would think the rooms are nice). Staff are very accommodating and helpful too

Well, once again my local lets me down....... After seeing an advertisement about the pub on Facebook offering a great Sunday roast I thought I would give the Birley yet another chance to redeem itself. So, I booked a table the night before in the hope of some good Sunday scran. As soon as we told them we had booked a table (7:30pm), we were told that they had no Sunday roasts left...... The whole reason I had booked the table......Oh well..... But, being honest I had soup to start and the Mrs had the pate, followed by a steak for me, and half a roast chicken for the good lady. Steak was cooked perfectly and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The better half enjoyed the chicken, but neither of us could understand the red cabbage it comes with......Just weird....And to be honest a bit of coleslaw would be much more appreciated. The service was great, and you could see the pub had done a good business during the day, It's a shame that they couldn't deliver what they are advertising.....Once again a tadge disappointed with this public house. ( Which isn't exactly the cheapest around).

Situated in a lovely quiet location only 10 mins drive into Lytham. We had a large double room with a really comfy bed and large shower. We ate all our meals there and the food was excellent with a really good choice. Wouldn't consider going anywhere else now if we wanted to stay around Blackpool and Lytham.

Very early pub closing times and quite late breakfast opening times. Make it not very convenient

We stayed overnight , the food, drinks and staff were all amazing , the room not so much , good points , the bed was comfy and the bedding clean and good quality , the tea/coffee tray was good. Bad points , the room was shabby, lightbulb’s missing, the heating not working , which when it’s -3 outside !

Biz stay Lovely welcome, very much needed after a long drive and a last minute road closure. Room was very clean and well appointed. Let down by the condition of the external door to the room which was a bit scruffy in comparison to the room itself.
