The Colosseum

We stayed here in March of 2025, and it was one of the worst hotel stays we've ever had. First of all, there was full on construction happening directly around the room while we were in it. There were construction workers right outside the windows banging and drilling away starting at 8am. We couldn't sleep, take work calls or even hear ourselves think. Also, the room was not nice, clean or safe. The door handle fell off so we couldn't even both leave the room at the same time since there was then no way to lock it. The worst part, however, was the owner. First, he forgot we were coming and wasn't there when we arrived at night even though I had specified in the reservation notes that we'd be getting in late. We had to call him and then wait 15 minutes for him to get there. Next, when we asked what could be done about the construction in the morning, he said nothing could be done and he thought we'd be leaving early for the airport. This doesn't make sense as I had also originally written in the reservation notes that we needed to work in the morning and had even enquired about having strong enough wifi to do that. He was rude and combative and didn't even try to do anything to make it right.

This hotel is very centrally located in Basterre, a very walkable distance from the ferry terminal, shops, and downtown. There is a grocery store located downstairs (the property is a walk up stairs). I had a great stay and would recommend this property to friends.

Great Guesthouse Our stay at the Colosseum Guesthouse was a great stay. It was clear there are some renovation work on the building however this did not affect our stay.

Property was close to Porte Zante, shopping markets, local food vendors and kfc.
