Great relaxing weekend and great service

My husband and I have just spent a couple of lovely days at Carey’s Manor hotel . We are frequent visitors there and whatever season of the year and whatever occasion Steve the manager and his great team never fail to give excellent service , With three fabulous restaurant to choose from ,Thai ,French or English cuisine there is something for everyone s taste . The spa and pool facilities are excellent,an amazing place to spend time relaxing, A perfect hotel to relax in and in a great location to explore the forest ,we hope to return very soon . We loved our stay! The food was lovely in the Thai restaurant. And the bar staff ( Mort and Anthony) really made our night!

Just returned from our fifth visit to Carey’s Manor after a few years. It was good to see some of the staff we recognised from previous visits. We stayed three nights in the middle of the week and booked a suite as we were celebrating a milestone birthday. We always call the hotel to book as they regularly have excellent offers and the reservations team is great at advising on the most cost-effective deals. For the first time, we didn’t have dinner included in our package but we still chose to eat in the hotel each evening. For us, the diversity and quality of the restaurants at Carey’s are a big draw. It was great to find that all three restaurants were as good as we remembered, with The Cambium being even better. Our suite was beautiful - much bigger than we had expected and very comfortable. It was spotlessly clean with high quality furnishings and decor. We do agree with another reviewer though about the quality of the coffee provided. Sachets of instant coffee weren’t in keeping with the rest of the experience. We made full use of the spa and had massages, which we still believe are the best anywhere. We had some minor issues but these were all dealt with very quickly and efficiently (by Anthony) and a room service order was taken off the bill as an apology. Thank you to all the staff who made our stay comfortable and memorable. We will be back!

We’d heard the hotel and spa had changed hands and decided on a return visit after many years. The spa was as good as we remembered. The staff were helpful and friendly. The massages were excellent. The Thai lunch and dinner we had in the restaurant next to the spa were delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed them both. The hotel itself was a different matter. Our room was spacious and clean if rather dated. The shower was above the bath which was awkward to use and flooded the bathroom every time we used it. It was a surprise to see little bottles of uninteresting and basic shampoo and shower gel. We haven’t visited a hotel that still supplies these for some time. Usually a large bottle of each is supplied and you use as much as you need and leave it for the next people. Such a waste of plastic. There was no fresh coffee in the room which considering the cost of the room was disappointing. The main restaurant was pretty poor. We had dinner and the dining room was lacking in character. The food was overpriced and not particularly good. The head waiter was supercilious and unhelpful. Breakfast was also served here and the cooked breakfast was badly cooked and not what we’d ordered. The waitress was happy to share her strong opinions and views despite us not being happy to hear them. At check out the receptionist was abrupt, almost to the point of rudeness. He couldn’t even manage to ask if we’d enjoyed our stay. This last encounter left a sour taste and decided us we’d not be returning.
