The Royal Albion

Positives: -Good breakfast selection -Great central location within Broadstairs -Breakfast and bar staff friendly -Sea view from room was worth the extra money Negatives: -Reception staff could’ve been more warmer and friendly. Weren’t rude or anything but could’ve been more attentive ‘How was your stay’ etc rather than just saying thank you for the key when we checked out. -No lift in the hotel. We were on the top floor. -No parking (which we knew prior to booking but parking is very expensive in the town centre). Would recommend overall though.

We booked three rooms for the night as a break for my Dad's 70th birthday. Our rooms were clean, comfortable and enjoyed uninterrupted sea views. It was delightful to hear the sound of the sea when you wake up in the morning! The staff were super friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very tasty and there was a good selection of continental and cooked items. This would be a five start review were it not for the tired stairway leading to the rooms. The carpet desperately needs replacing and is threadbare in multiple places! Irrespective of that, we would definitely stay again and look forward to doing so in the future.

I recently visited the restaurant for a lunch with my mum after going to the spa. We ordered the charcuterie board which included bread, a small slice of bomber cheese, varied meats and pickles, we also ordered the Camembert which was on the specials. I think the charcuterie board was nice but needed more for a sharing platter for over £16. Could do with something like crackers or olives, or perhaps a bigger slice of cheese, or more than one small slice of multiple cheeses. The Camembert was very lovely and had the perfect amount of bread to have with it. We enjoyed our lunch with a little bottle of prosecco each which was a reasonable price and was perfect with our lunch. The restaurant itself is very lovely, had fast service and lovely views of the sea. I would come back again :)

Lovely location facing the sea with outside terrace too. The bar/ restaurant were smart with good atmosphere and we had two good evening meals there. Rooms were clean and comfortable though on the small side. Pleasant and helpful staff. Corridors were worn but our main complain was that rooms were very overheated and this affected comfort and sleep quality. Owing to this I don’t think we’d stay there again.

My wife and I stayed for six nights in Broadstairs in September 2025. We chose the Royal Albion because it had been recommended by friends and because it is located in the centre of Broadstairs overlooking the sea. We asked for a room with a sea view and the room we were given had an excellent view of Viking Bay and its impressive beach. The only slight drawback was that it involved three flights of stairs to get to (there are no lifts) but it was worth it! The room itself was spacious and clean and we had a good sleep every night. The breakfasts were very good though we could have done with a bit more choice of fruit, which was rather limited. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we had no problems throughout our stay. The hotel does not have its own car park so we had to park our car in the car park in Albion Street, which was about 200 yards away and cost £15 each day. You need to factor this into the cost of a stay at the hotel. It is particularly well located for eating out as there are so many really good restaurants nearby. We were very pleased about the Royal Albion and would stay there again.
