Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club

My family of three paid a substantial sum to stay in a one-bedroom “villa” at Ocean Edge over Labor Day weekend. Early one morning, I observed we were on the last few sheets of toilet paper. Even at a mid-range hotel, you might expect to find a second roll under the sink, but apparently not at Ocean Edge. So I called Guest Services around 7:25am and the desk staff assured me he would have someone bring a roll over. Fine. I waited patiently for an hour before I called again. The same individual assured me that someone would come within 10 minutes. After another 20 minutes, I called again. This time, the same individual put me on hold so he could “check on it” but then he never returned to the phone (I waited more than 10 minutes). After that, I started calling the Reservations line and Guest Services repeatedly and was given multiple assurances and apologies and excuses. In the end, it inexplicably took *over 2 hours* to get a roll of toilet paper delivered to our room. Obviously, with the benefit of hindsight, we could have gone back and forth to the store multiple times during that time, if only the amateur staff hadn't continually told us falsely that help would be arriving imminently. (Except shout-out to Pat the empathetic phone operator who offered to leave her post and bring it to us if necessary, although it didn’t ultimately come to that). What a humiliating way to treat guests at a supposedly upscale resort—making them beg and plead for toilet tissue for hours! Also, although I didn’t see it mentioned on the website, nor did they explain this at check-in, there is apparently NO housekeeping of any kind at the villas except as-requested, so they do not come around to replace the coffee you’ve used or replace towels or empty wastebaskets, etc. And the supplies they provide at the outset are minimal. In addition to the aforementioned single toilet paper roll, they provided those tiny soggy soap bars and teensy shampoos that you find at budget motels. I guess I remain confused, even after staying there, whether they intend to provide a bare bones condo rental or whether they intend to provide a “Four Diamond” experience of “unbeatable ease” as noted on the website. Whichever way, I think they ought to make it clearer to guests on the website and at check-in. Like, if they had told me the room was only provided minimal “starter supplies,” I would have thought that was ridiculous given the price of the accommodations, but I would have picked up my own toilet tissue and coffee. In another service shortcoming, we once returned to our unit to find multiple staff members sitting on the interior steps to our room eating fried chicken for lunch. Surely on this enormous property the staff have a break room somewhere and aren’t forced to block the entryways to guest rooms and smell up the hall with fried chicken odor? Recently stayed at the Villas at Ocean Edge. Entire stay was great. Started off with Jenn at the front desk. She was so professional and friendly and gave us some great local reviews. She really started our trip off the best way.

We booked a stay there for our family of four (two children 8 and younger). We booked a "king" one bedroom in Arbor Village. (Beware, the king room does not have a king bed. It's a queen.) The room was way too tight for us. We booked a five night stay, but checked out three days early and booked a larger Airbnb a few miles away. It was disappointing, stressful, and an enormous waste of money.

The resort is fantastic. The locations and setting are perfect. The beach is beautiful especially at low tide where you can walk for miles. And a blast for kids to find explore. The services/amenities at the beach are top-notch. The pools are well maintained and the daily lawn games are an added bonus. The downside is the villas are tired and can use updating. The air conditioners are so noisy, the kitchen lacks basic cooking utensils, the WiFi is very spotty and unreliable, the carpets are stained.

This was our most recent stay at the Villages at Ocean Edge Resort. We have been vacationing at the resort every summer for many many years and consider it our home away from home. Its location is perfect being close to some of the nicest towns on the Cape. And the resort itself offers so much - an expansive beautifully maintained setting, a gorgeous private beach, numerous pools and exercise facilities, a terrific golf course, and great dining options. In addition the staff at all the facilities are excellent- personable, respectful, and well trained assuring visitors first class treatment. We will be returning again in September and intend to return ever summer in the future.

The best part about the trip was the pickleball! Todd was truly an amazing teacher. We truly enjoyed the facilities and beach.
