Huizhou Longmen Nankunshan Zhuxi Mountain Resort Hot Spring Hotel

9.4/10
Outstanding

It was almost 8 PM when we got back from Shantou, and the hotel even thoughtfully called to remind us about check-in. The hotel was conveniently located not far from the highway exit. The room layout was well-designed; though not super new, it was perfectly adequate. Soaking in the hot spring tub on the balcony was a great way to wash away the travel fatigue. It's a shame that guests upstairs were still being loud late into the night, but thankfully we're used to going to bed late. In the morning, you can look down from the balcony and see the hot spring pools; there aren't many, but the environment is lovely. Breakfast was decent too. Upon checkout, they even gave us some Longmen local specialties. I'd definitely recommend this hotel as a good rest stop during your travels.

First off, we could check in at 2 PM, received a free room upgrade, and were allowed a late checkout until 2 PM – an amazing experience all around! Secondly, the hotel's beach offers great privacy; it's exclusively for guests, so you don't share it with outsiders, which feels very safe. You can leave your phone and room key anywhere without worry. Finally, I have to praise the small shop on the far right by the beach. The BBQ and beer are affordable, and it’s a VIP spot for watching fireworks! The hotel service is also excellent; they're very responsive to everything, and staff politely greet you wherever you go. I almost forgot to mention the small zoo – seeing all the white pigeons fly over for a peanut was quite a spectacle! Unfortunately, I didn't get to see the black swan I was hoping for this time. I’ll definitely be back to this hotel!

This time, I brought my grandma on a trip. I've been to Huizhou many times before and stayed at various hotels, both higher and lower class than this one in Shuangyue Bay, but this hotel had the best service. Everyone, from the front desk to housekeeping and restaurant staff, was excellent. Since we stayed for two nights, the housekeeping auntie proactively came to clean, and she was very thorough. All in all, I was extremely satisfied.

The Ctrip package with breakfast and dinner was incredibly good value for money! The hotel is right on the East River, with the lobby on the 29th floor, offering panoramic views of the murky East River and the picturesque West Lake. Check-in was quick. There was a 10-minute wait at the front desk during the Dragon Boat Festival, which was acceptable. The room's highlight was its high floor and expansive views. However, the room felt a bit dated. The air conditioner was incredibly noisy when turned up high, and even on the lowest setting, it was still quite loud. The most unbearable part was how dry it made the air; I was parched all night from the air conditioning. The hairdryer was an old model with weak airflow. The shower pressure wasn't great; it lacked the strong spray you'd expect from a star-rated hotel. If you order takeout, be prepared to pick it up yourself! They were generous with bottled water. On the first day, I asked for extra and got four bottles. On the second day, they automatically provided four 560ml JingTian bottles. The first day, there were small face towels, but on the second day, only large bath towels were provided. For the public areas, we mainly used the swimming pool. It's about 10 meters long and ranges from 1.1 to 1.6 meters deep, which isn't ideal for proper swimming. The water quality was clean and it was heated, but it was absolutely packed during the holiday. The pool closes at 9:50 PM, and we managed to squeeze in a swim just before closing on both nights. The gym area seems to be outsourced, and towels aren't allowed upstairs. The dinner was a pleasant surprise because they didn't charge for children, which immediately made it a great value. If you book in advance, you can get a riverside table with fantastic views for enjoying the night scenery. You can order steak and chicken chop à la carte, which were pretty good. The biggest highlight was the Tom Yum Goong Garoupa fillet, which was very fresh and cooked on the spot by the chef. Though, for some reason, the chef seemed quite stressed and angry throughout. The sashimi was fairly standard, but the salmon and octopus were good. They also had Hainanese chicken; the chili sauce was excellent, but the chicken itself was a bit dry. There were other Southeast Asian specialties, so there was some variety. Overall, the quality was just average compared to similar hotels in Dongguan, but given the price, it still offered good value for money. Breakfast: I could honestly just eat one thing: their Hakka pork offal noodle soup – it was delicious! There were three topping options for the noodles at breakfast, which was great. They also had three soup bases: pork offal, chicken, and beef bone. The pork offal soup was incredibly flavorful, just as good as anything you'd find outside. You can definitely get a very filling breakfast here and won't feel hungry until lunchtime. You can walk to Hualian Tiandi in about 10 minutes. Taking a taxi to West Lake also takes around 10 minutes. Even if you come by car, I'd recommend taking a taxi to West Lake.

The hotel service is very considerate. The front desk guy also patiently introduced the room to me. He also specially processed a new guest VIP, free breakfast and late check-out, which is great! I had bookmarked this place two years ago, and it just so happened that my stay fell on my birthday. I specifically chose a hotel over a guesthouse, and it really lived up to expectations! The environment and cleanliness were excellent. Parking was super convenient with multiple underground levels of parking spots. I was very satisfied with the hotel's breakfast buffet; I took my time, watching the plants outside the window and spacing out for an hour. Even though I didn't eat much, listening to the music was so enjoyable. My parents went to the hot springs and said the water was very clean, but I didn't go in. I'd definitely come back again if I get the chance! The front desk staff, both the ladies and the 'little dog' (presumably a male staff member, possibly a playful nickname), were very enthusiastic and helpful! The pool was also beautiful, but it was regular temperature, not heated, so I couldn't go in.

I used to think Le Méridien was great – clean, hygienic, and with good service. I've stayed here three times in the past six months. However, this last visit completely shattered that impression. On our second morning, around 7 AM, I was washing my face and noticed the washcloth turning yellow. That's when I realized the tap water was so yellow it was unusable. When I asked the service center, they initially seemed unaware but later informed me that there was an emergency repair issue with the tap water company in Daya Bay overnight. They said it would be fine after running the water for twenty minutes. Okay, so we ran the water and then went cycling on Wushantou Trail, planning to come back for breakfast and a shower before our next activity. However, by the time we returned to the hotel after visiting Shili Silver Beach and Jiaoshi Park, it was past 2 PM, and the water issue had only just been resolved. We were left sweating and feeling grimy for 6 or 7 hours. I really have to wonder about the hotel's emergency plan. Is their filtration system even working? And they didn't proactively inform us or try to appease us until we complained. The service staff really lacks a proactive service mindset. I used to like Le Méridien because of its comprehensive surrounding facilities – dining, entertainment, movies, scenic views, and a gym. But now, it seems I need to find a new hotel. As for the buffet, it's just okay to eat if it's included in the room rate, but don't expect good value for money. There's no need to pay extra for it. For the same price point, the China Hotel in Guangzhou is far superior.

The room was very comfortable and the environment was great, facing the sea with an unobstructed view. We could see beautiful fireworks at night 🎆. The service was also excellent and very attentive, especially from Customer Service Manager Lynn Cai (蔡桂娥) who thoughtfully reminded us of various important details 👍. The 31st-floor infinity pool 🏊‍♀️🏊 offers an unbeatable view 😻. If I come back again, I'll definitely stay at Dusit Thani 😄.

Traveling during the off-peak season was quite enjoyable; there were very few people. Even though it rained, it was perfect for beach activities. It's more parent-friendly as there's no harsh sun and a pleasant breeze. The hotel is new and offers various water attractions. The infinity pool is absolutely stunning and great for photos, and the kids loved it. There's also an indoor playground. It's really quite suitable for us Hunan folks, with the sea and a beach. There's a restaurant on the first floor where we had two meals, which was convenient for lazy people like us. The hotel's butler, Xiao Huang, was very enthusiastic and provided excellent service. Every day, they'd ask if we needed anything, and on the last day, they even sent us breakfast. I especially want to praise the hot water in the room—it was incredibly hot and fantastic, perfect for kids who've been playing in the cold water.

Travel photography experience: Excellent Instagrammable beach swing (unlimited access): Great Sky glass walkway access: Good Facilities: Excellent Cleanliness: Excellent Environment: Excellent Service: Excellent This is a fantastic hotel. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, clean, and cozy, with very new and well-equipped facilities. The only minor issue is that it gets quite busy on weekends, especially the elevators and restaurants.
