"Comfortable, modern hotel with free parking just steps from the center of Brantome. The comfort rooms were a reasonable size, and the beds were comfortable. Our rooms faced the garden/pool area. The hotel has a restuarant that you must book for (we didn't) but no bar, which was a shame as we would have liked to enjoy the courtyard."

"Stayed 2 nights at this just out of centre small hotel in the picturesque town of Brantome. Modern bedroom was a little small but had a huge 'wet room' bathroom. Weather was not great so did not use the pool or large terrace. The owners are a delightful couple with hotel experience around the world who made us feel very welcome. Food in their restaurant is excellent with an extensive wine list. We shall return if we are in the area again."

"We had a wonderful stay at Le Moulin de L’Abbaye. Our room had a terrific view of the river, it was extremely comfortable and the staff were very helpful and friendly. One of the best stays we’ve had in a hotel in France! Top notch, thanks very much! Highly recommended."

"We went for coffee to the hotel on a day when the rain was pouring down. There is a shallow amount of shelter over tables arrayed along the front of the hotel, but every chair and table was covered in rain. In the reception there are two tables, one had a couple having coffee, sharing their table with a tray of cutlery, left there by the staff. The other table had an accounts ledger on it and a sweater over the back of one of the two chairs. The kitchen, which is off the reception, down a short corridor had its door propped open, so one could see and hear the clatter and chat in the kitchen. Off the reception is a dining room, with several tables, one of which had an English couple eating a late breakfast, it being after 10:00. Otherwise the room was empty. We sat down and ordered coffee, and chatted briefly to the couple. The receptionist came in and said we were not allowed to sit there and ushered us back to reception. She indicated the table with the accounts ledger and said we should sit there. I pointed out the book, ‘well’, she said ‘ it’s only a book’! I pointed out the sweater and she said ‘You can move it’. We had our coffee, paid and left. We shan’t be going back. Note even if hell freezes over and every other coffee shop in the Dordogne is closed. If you have no interest in welcoming guests, the hotel business is not for you."
