"This hotel was a real disappointment. It is in a stunning location, and behind the old exterior, it is very modern inside. However, the service is appalling. The hotel advertises a bar which was not open and a member of our party wanted to use the spa one day to be told it is closed. Breakfast is also very average, being the same each day and with no toaster. In no way is this 4*. The rooms are well appointed but with poor storage and an open plan bathroom, which lacks privacy. I am told the service issues are due to a lack of staff, which is an issue in Portugal."

"Overall, we liked the place. It is located in an old restored house in the very center of the city. The breakfast is good - you can take it. The downside for us - we were placed in a room on the second floor with large holes near the windows, we were afraid that a child could fall in there, and we ourselves could stumble and fall in there. In the photo, these holes are not visible behind the curtains, we were not moved to another room, since there were none available. They also saved on the blanket, it was not tucked in - you cover yourself with a sheet and another blanket on top."

"The location is excellent, just a ten-minute walk from the train and bus stations and right in the historic center. There's no noise from the street at night, so you can sleep well. The room was small but comfortable, with a lovely view of the Igreja de Santa Cruz. The two bathrooms on the landing, one with a toilet and the other with a shower, were spotless and equipped with a hairdryer and toiletries. The single rooms in the attic are quite small, so they may be uncomfortable for very tall and/or heavy people. Finally, those with walking difficulties should note that there is no elevator."
