Repurposed from an original, historic North Shore fish house — one of the few that remain standing from that bygone era — time with coffee, wine, and friends is about as close to North Shore ecstasy as it gets! Painted Rock sits perched on a quaint spit of Lake Superior ledge rock, halfway between Lutsen and Grand Marais on the edge of Cascade River State Park. Privacy is well maintained for a quiet getaway. Full of wildlife in the undeveloped area, we’ve spotted various types of animals and birds ranging from small to large. The 14x28 cabin offers a poplar and hickory built kitchen for food preparation needs, with a faucet for cleaning, and a neat dining table to eat with space. 7 windows are provided for a look at nature along with blinds for privacy along the sleeping area. Fridge/ freezer to keep food/drinks cold. Sleeping offers a queen size log bed for a needed nightly recharge. Enjoy outdoor dining or watch as a campfire crackles. Rock fire pit provided along with birch firewood for a sweet and soothing chance to enjoy the warmth. Clean and spacious outhouse is provided for bathroom needs.Enjoy the off grid experience while being able to keep your food and drinks cold along with indoor/outdoor lighting. 4 USB outlets are provided along with cigarette lighter ports for charging needs.House Rules: -This will be based as a “glamping” type experience. “Leave it as you found it” and let others enjoy the space. Cleaning supplies are provided for an easy refresh! This helps keep stays more affordable if we all can do our part.- Water is all carry in!To use the sink we provide a fill jug that has to be placed back in cabinet after filling to supply the faucet. Dump bucket under sink drain. - Pack in your own bedding to enjoy your favorite comforters and pillows. - Easy access is provided with an electronic keypad for easy entrance/exit.- Guests are welcome to hike around the entire 40-acre parcel along with all adjacent federal land, up to 200 acres. Bring the whole family to this true Farmhouse! My husband and I bought my grandpa’s house on my family farm and we want to share it with you. This spacious newly remodeled house with a large kitchen and dining area, an open concept that is great for large groups and big families. A master bedroom with a king bed, master bathroom has a large shower and you can even take a soak in the cattle stock tank bathtub. Second full bathroom on the main floor with a large shower too. On the lower level the bunk room will be a huge hit! With 3 twin beds, 2 double beds it makes for a fun nights sleep! Across the hall you’ll find a large bedroom with two queen beds and a small sitting area. This bedroom had its own large bathroom with a shower. Washer and dryer as well on lower level of the split level home. If you love the country, absolutely beautiful views and animals this is definitely the spot for you! Experience the sites sounds and smells of a working farm. Tractors, cows, pigs and hard-working farmers can be found everywhere, everyday on this property! You will hear cows mooing, pigs squealing and calves calling for mom, tractors working, dirt bikes and four wheelers driving around, kids playing and me calling In the cows in for milking time. These things will differ depending on the time of year you come and stay with us. Enjoy beautiful places to take walks, we even have access to a river canyon with waterfalls that you can hike to. Come join me in the barn at milking time, you can even milk a cow! The farm is about 10 minutes away from down town Grand Marais! There is also full size futon downstairs, a little wood stove and solar-powered lights and USB charger. It's hard to believe off-grid living could be this cozy. That said, it's not for everyone. Guests will bring in water, ice, and linens / sleeping bags. There is an outhouse for guests.
