Breakfast is not really included as such. Only the continental buffet. This is cereal, fruits, cereal bars, baked items and a large selection of cakes, including mince pies, which was odd for breakfast. The hot breakfast requires a surcharge to be paid, something I’ve never experienced before. The full English would be best described as part English breakfast, with no sausages, tomatoes, or mushrooms included which is a bit of an insult when you’re paying a surcharge. I can’t fault the service, or anything else, but this felt a bit naughty to be doing.

Beautiful views, amazing building We stayed over in our camper, the area was fine for just an overnight stopover. Before our meal we had a drink outside, the tables were dirty and the slabs below the tables were loose and totally unsafe. The conservatory area was bright and looked clean, the interior restaurant was dark and dingy and very noisy, The evening meal was ok pub grub the breakfast was really good. Excellent choice of cold buffet and a really good full English

Stayed for 2 nights in room 3 which was spotlessly clean. Bathroom looked fairly new and bedroom was lovely we had a double and a single, tea coffee facilities, wardrobe, nice little chalet type rooms which were really cool at night considering we were there during very hot weather. You have your own parking space too. Lovely outside space and amazing views. Breakfast continental style and toast offered. Very nice. You can also pay extra for full English etc. We ate at the hotel both nights the food was delicious and really good portion size too. The staff very attentive. Great base for visiting the surrounding beautiful area, would stay again.

Called in on Sunday afternoon as we are staying in our caravan just down the road and we fancied a Sunday roast and we weren’t disappointed. Greeted professionally by helpful and friendly staff, drinks served promptly, menu provided, food order taken. Plenty of choice of where to sit and take in the views. Lovely freshly prepared, traditional roasts served with a smile and they were very tasty. Would definitely return if we are in the area and recommend without hesitation.

Firstly I was quite surprised to have to pay a surcharge of £30 when booking. Beautiful country inn with accommodation in the grounds. We had a family room for the 2 of us with no view of the countryside ( we could of paid extra).Car parking at the door was a bonus. Comfortable enough bed, very peaceful nights sleep. The only negative was ( although the bathroom was lovely)there was a bit of grubbiness in the floor corners and the toilet brush was grim. In the bedroom area the carpets were a tad bitty but at least the bedding was clean and fresh. Continental breakfast was lovely, plenty of fresh fruit and lots of choice, service was spot on. We decided to upgrade to a cooked breakfast, a full English and pancakes with bacon, both were delicious and very reasonably priced. The staff were all very nice and friendly. Thanks guys.

Lovely place, great cost effective way of visiting Alton Towers and Peak District. Nice family room with plenty of space, kids loved the bunk beds too. The breakfast was nice and had plenty of choice, would recommend. Location wise is 15mins form Alton Towers and similar journey to Dovedale for the hikes and stepping stones. Room was clean and had essentials for the bathroom such as shower gel etc. Thank you

The coaching inn that houses the bar and restaurant are welcoming and cosy but it should be noted that this is not a hotel. The rooms are actually chalets in the grounds that are outdated and need some attention. Our room smelled musty and was decorated like an old caravan. The wallpaper was peeling off on one wall. The bathroom was spacious and the shower good but unfortunately due to the layout it is impossible to sit on the toilet comfortably. The tap has clearly been plumbed in wrong as there is a note stuck to the wall explaining the dots are the wrong way round. I couldn’t use the tea making facilities due to the limescale on the kettle. The website photos are not a true representation of where you stay. The beer garden is lovely but spoiled by the fact that the inn is actually on a very busy road. As it’s in the middle of nowhere we had planned to eat in the hotel. Food is extremely overpriced and had no flavour. I am glad I had booked through a voucher and not paid full price. The only good thing about this is the staff. They are friendly and helpful.
