We ended up booking Premier Inn very late on a Friday night following walking out of a filthy hotel in Blackpool. We were very happy being checked in to a familiar, clean Premier inn… lesson learnt! We were asked if we wanted breakfast the next morning, due to a late arrival we asked if we could decide in the morning to be told of course, not a problem, tell the desk and pay here if you decide you want it. We had booked for 2 nights. The room was ideal for a family of 3 and more importantly, clean! The first morning we decided to have breakfast in the hotel at the attached restaurant… 2 adults, just short of £22, and our daughter was free.. great! lovely food and plenty of choice. We paid for breakfast at the check in desk. 2nd day… same routine went to tell check in we have decided to have breakfast there again to be told at the same check in desk that we have to pay at the bar as they cannot book it there?! Eh?! But we had booked it there yesterday, on explaining this, we were told that isn’t right and argued with. No worries, we will pay in the bar… no one at the bar! We found a member of staff (looked like the restaurant manager, Scottish man), we explained we had been told to pay for breakfast at the bar. He said he would need to check if had space and seemed huffy (very dramatic) we explained to him of our experience of the previous day to be snapped back at that the reception staff cannot book us in as they cannot see how busy he is… again we told him about the previous day and how we are feeling confused for him to continue arguing that we should have pre booked! I left my husband to pay whilst my daughter and I went to get a drink, when I got to the table the ‘manager’ walked past me huffing and shaking his head. At the table, my husband said that all the way to the table and after seating him, that this member of staff had continued the rant and when my husband tried to explain how we were confused he said you should have pre booked, end of! We should have been told correctly… end of!!! There was no apology or I will ensure this mis communication is sorted. Just rude, arrogance from someone who should not be in the manager position when he isn’t able to provide the basic of customer service! The lady on the next table heard what had happened and told us she was treat like an inconvenience when her and her daughter walked in the restaurant for breakfast by the same Scottish manager. They were staying at another hotel that did not provide breakfast and came to the restaurant. Like us was huffed at! The hotel itself was a breath of fresh air following the dive we originally checked in to before the premier inn. Yes, there is noise from nightclubs but not enough to keep you awake, the hotel have done their best to keep the noise out.
