I had a great stay. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. They provided ice for an event we were preparing, always greeted us with kindness and helped with luggage, especially Frederick. He stayed with me while I waited for my Uber in the dark to ensure I was safe and helped with my luggage. I highly recommend this hotel.

Nice heritage hotel but experienced a few issues. No water in the room and no one at reception to speak to. We had some travel cups so we were able to source water from the gym. No shower gel & insufficient towels for our party. The bathroom fittings required some attention and the extractor fan did not switch off. One of the beds was missing a sheet. Decent sized room but all things considered it was not of the standard I expected given the rate. Nice rooftop bar.

Unfortunately, my stay here wasn’t what I had hoped for. I was in town for the Phish shows, and the first room I was given was quite dusty, so I asked to be moved. While I was able to get another room, the staff at the desk didn’t seem very welcoming and it felt like I was interrupting them when I asked for help. The room I booked was listed as having a “city view,” but my first room was on the second floor and the second one on the third floor…so there really wasn’t much of a view at all. The rooms themselves are on the smaller side with layouts that felt a little awkward, and some of the advertised amenities, like MALIN+GOETZ products, weren’t actually available. For the condition of the property, I felt the price was a bit high. Even the lobby didn’t make a great impression, behind the front desk, employees kept personal belongings on the shelves, and cleaning supplies were scattered around below, which didn’t feel professional for this type of hotel. On a positive note, the location is convenient. Walking distance to restaurants, the art museum, and the new amphitheater. If I return to Birmingham, I’d likely look for a different hotel option, as this one didn’t quite meet expectations.
