This hotel is complete garbage! 1. Tv doesn’t work. Sent some smelly curmudgeon to fix the A/C. * Never got it working. 2. No card swipe on the elevator but goes out of their way to refuse DoorDash delivery. 3. Valet lost my car. Took over 90 mins. Missed my first meeting and late for the rest. 4. Asked to speak with a manager…no one on duty (of course). 5. Asked for a call back, never got one. And to top it all off, they don’t ever put out coffee in the morning! Complete incompetence!

What a wonderful stay. I was a little skittish because I saw the reviews but I will tell you this place is under renovation in a way that did not bother me at all. Neither did the highway noise. From the moment I arrived after a late flight to the moment I left, I was treated kindly and the room felt brand new. I loved seeing the young people skateboarding under the highway in the skateboard park, too. You hear so many sad stories but here was a picture of absolute joy. Thank you, Aidshatu (means "full of life"), John, the valet, and Davon at the bar, and Khalil (morning valet) for being so kind. If I get in late and stay in Birmingham because I don't drive well at night alone, I will definitely consider returning here! PS $39 for parking was dear. Can you bring the price down just a little?

I do not do reviews, but felt to do so now. The highway noise from my room is intolerable. The only reason I did not give this a lower rating is because my room is lovely and the bartenders are beyond amazing. Get better sound proof windows and this will be a great hotel. —- Lifetime Platimum

Could have been a solid 4+stars. Service, Room, etc. were very good. But, many rooms in the Tower block are VERY close to the freeway and do not have any 'extra' sound insulation. We were tired late at night, so no problem getting to sleep. But, were awoken at just after 4am as the traffic started to build and from that point on there was no way to return to sleep, on what was supposed a lazy day on the first day of our vacation. We reported the issue when checking out and the desk agent simply said (to paraphrase), "... yes, we know about that, the highway was built after the hotel, .... we plan on improving sound proofing .... ". All great to hear, but it did nothing to help compensate for our missing 3-4 hours of sleep ! Another minor(but could have been a lot more serious) issue, we filled the iron with water, plugged it in, went to use it and water started pouring out from the metal plate :O We immediately unplugged it, happy that we hadn't been electrocuted. We also reported this to reception and asked that they remove & trash the iron, to avoid a potential more serious issue with a future guest. Without the sleep depravation/highway issue this would be a great hotel, especially with the covered/ac access directly to the arena.

I was skeptical about staying here after reading a lot of reviews, but we had no choice as this is where our group was booked. Our room was handicap accessible with roll in shower. On the 16th floor it was right off the elevators & near ice machine. The room was very nice & bed very comfortable, on soft side which we prefer. There was a fridge but no microwave. AC worked well & water was hot. The problem was in the shower. It was roll in with a lip to catch water however we ended up with water all over bathroom floor & into main room. A liability for sure. There was a drain in shower but the shower head was on back wall & water hit the curtain & ran out. You could not adjust head, there was a hand held but it had no pressure. The shower curtain was about 5” too short thus water ran out. Being that bathroom floor was sloped down to sliding door it ran into main room. I don’t know who designed it but terrible. We have mobility issues & we’re afraid of falling with water on floor. I talked with Nick, one of managers & voiced our concerns. They were to try to get a longer shower curtain but that never happened in 7 days we were there. All we got was an apology. Justin & another man in engineering came to look but couldn’t do anything. It’s only a matter of time until someone falls & gets hurt. I want to give a shout out to Ernest in housekeeping. He kept us in towels to put on floor to mop up water. Very nice gentleman, thank you. Beware if staying here, they keep lobby like a freezer, so very cold. All employees we encountered were nice.

Went with the Porsche Club of America. Room okay, a little small, but clean. Stayed a week. Parking rates excessive but did get a code to get in and out, but a hassle to use. Main problem: After three night of stay, getting ready for bed the fourth night, noticed my cell phone and charger were missing after returning from dinner. Called security in the hotel, who called the police, who responded in a prompt and professional manner. It was determined that the lock was not engaging properly and the door and been jammed and that the room could be entered without the key card. We were moved to another room at that time with the help of security. That was June 13th. We were told insurance claim would be filed was well as police report. In essence, we were in a room for three nights that anyone could have come in. Upon on return home, have contacted the Marriott Claims services twice with no response. Did receive a letter that they tried to call us but did not have any luck. A check of the caller ID on the house phone and wife's cell phone show no such call. Long story short: Haven't had a phone since June 13th. No customer services. Don't want anything but a replacement of phone and charger. To address the hotel itself, the breakfast buffet was in the lobby, not really interested in eating there, could have been in the enclosed alcove right behind the buffet. Prices high in the bar area, wine went up $2.00 nightly. Felt ripped off. No hotels in the Sheraton Birmingham, but you can walk to the WESTIN. Enjoyed those restaurants.

Stayed here for business. The room was nice I had no issue with that at all. The facility itself is nice, however, the service not good at all. The breakfast buffet was not bad, however, they are slow to fill it so plan ahead it will take a while to eat. This occurred on more then one day. The reason for the 2 Star is this. Upon checkout they close out my bill and tell me I owe $41 from the Cafe. I told them I didn’t get anything from the Cafe and I ask them to show me the receipts in question. They told me they didn’t have the receipts and there was nothing they could do since the Cafe is a separate entity. I ask how that could be the case being they were trying to bill me and they couldn’t explain. I also questioned them on didn’t it seem odd that the figures were whole amounts?? The girl just shrugged her shoulders and told me “oh well.” She provided me a phone number for the Cafe and told me I could call them when they are open, however, she didn’t know the hours of operation even though the Cafe is in their lobby. Needless to say if you stay here check your bills. I will be notifying my credit card company ASAP also.

We stayed at the Sheraton this month for a Porsche event held in Birmingham. I was reluctant to stay there because I read some bad reviews but this was not our experience at all. We were kindly greeted and given a quick and courteous check-in. The elevator/hallways were very clean, and our room was very clean and updated. The bed was comfortable and the room had plenty of places to sit. We never asked for our room to be cleaned. We made our bed and went on our way. We did get clean towels. Breakfast was very nice, however the food was cold because the serving pieces are open the entire time. The selections were more than adequate. The servers were very polite and friendly. The valets directing the cars outside were very friendly, interested in the cars, and most polite. The food at the banquets we attended there were delicious. Check out was quick. We were very pleased.

Room was filthy, TV didn’t work, pool was not functioning, manager on site was not very accommodating. There was trash from the prior stay left on the floor and under the bed. Disappointing experience all together, the manager stated she would add 20,000 points to my Bonvoy account which also never happened.
