"Stayed for 2 nights. Lovely location, clean rooms, the bathroom really well done out, lovely shower. The room was cozy and we had everything we needed. The only thing which would mention, the weather was already quite warm in the last few weeks so our room was very humid, warm, and unfortunately the window wouldnt stay open. If the air circulation would be sorted in the room, that would help when the temperature is higher outside."

"Just came home from a two night break at the Wayfarer Inn where I stayed with my two sisters. We were pleasantly greeted by a young girl at the bar Neve, who checked us in and said if we needed anything just to ask. The room was lovely, clean and warm with plenty of water, tea, coffee etc. There was such a friendly atmosphere in the bar with locals and staff alike and we even got to see some live music on the Saturday evening. The breakfasts and evening meal we had were good and plentiful and nothing was too much trouble. If you want to experience a local, quirky, welcoming, friendly place to stay or have a meal and drink you will not be disappointed. Thank you Sue Linda and Kay."

"A warm welcome greeted us from Theresa and Ian who Have recently taken over. We called in for an anniversary Sunday lunch. Great local beer and some great wine was accompanied by a great home cooked Sunday lunch. Albeit that they in the process of renovating the whole hotel nothing seemed to be too much trouble. We look forward to visiting again and staying over."

"We stayed in room 19 for one night. It was a large room with a great shower and big bathroom including a bath. This room is in The Quay a few minutes' walk from the pub so luckily the weather was dry for our walks between the pub and the accommodation. The view from our room across to Instow was great although sadly the weather was cloudy and drizzly to really appreciate it! The food in the pub is excellent and the staff we met were all very friendly."

"We stayed at the Sailor’s Rest for 2 nights at the end of August and found it to be good value considering the time of year. We managed to park for free just outside on the road without any trouble. Check in was straightforward – the instructions were clear and we got into the building and collected our key easily from the secure key box. Our room (no. 6) was up in the loft space. It was cosy, clean and nice and quiet. No view from the bedroom itself as it only had skylights, but the bathroom had a lovely sea view. The Nespresso machine and fridge were nice additions. We paid a bit more to have breakfast included, which meant walking down the road to the Royal George. Some previous reviewers seemed to see this as a downside but we actually enjoyed the short stroll each morning, even in the rain one day. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and definitely worth it. Overall, a really comfortable stay and somewhere we’d happily book again if ever in the area."

"We booked in 2023 but when we got there the pub was closed. It was new year's day and the last day of our holiday so we had absolutely nothing to eat. So we decided to try again because the landlady had explained that one of her customers had been taken ill and she'd had to close. I booked believing it would be busy and explained i was vegan to which she replied that wasn't a problem and she'd get 'chef' to sort something out. When we got there it was sooo cold inside. The landlady said the one vegan option was a tart tatin. No other vegan options. So I went with that and my husband had the pie of the day. I said vegetables would be great. Vegetables arrived which were cauliflower 'cheese' and 'creamy' mash which was in the same dish as the sprouts, broccoli and carots. They'd been pre cooked and microwaved, by the look of it. Absolutely tasteless. So for £15 I got a tart and some chips!! Husband's pie was quite good but swimming in gravy. Beer was £5.80 and a small bottle of wine £6.30. Very very disappointing"

"Stayed on the joseph bus, so well equipped, everything you would need. Perfect getaway, so peaceful, beautiful setting, comfy and warm with the log burner, owners are a delight."
