Days Inn by Wyndham Berthierville

Location: Close to the highway and surrounded by restaurants

We arrived late Saturday evening only to find that we were allotted a handicap room (300) which had semi trucks parked right outside running their engines all nights with sounds of air brakes, etc. to wake us up and disturb our sleep. There were only two small hooks to hang clothes on, no hangers to properly hang up your clothes or any type of closet. There was nothing to put your suitcase on except the table. The two chairs where cold uncomfortable uninviting metal chairs, no couch or comfortable chair. I always use special silver infused microfiber cloths to wipe down/off anything that we would touch when checking into a hotel room. I was appalled at the dirt on the walls, doors, and especially inside the bedside tables, they had obviously not been washed out for quite some time. There was a coffee stain on the dresser by the coffee machine left from a previous client and when I opened the second drawer to wash it out to put my cloths in, there was a coffee stain there too!! Dirt was on the wall by the thermostat (which we couldn't adjust with the room being very cold, especially at night. The bathroom had dirt around the toilet roll holder and something stuck on to the toilet roll holder itself. Many dried on drips down the walls in the bathroom and even outside the bathroom. The hair dryer had a large dirt stain by the cord, with dirt all over the rest of hair dryer (some marks can't be removed). The next morning I asked a cleaning staff member to come and see what was around the toilet roll holder (which I had left for him to see) and other marks on the wall which I indicated needed cleaning. When we came back that evening, nothing had been done to clean off the toilet roll holder and other areas around it that needed wiping down. I was shocked and disgusted. We stayed 7 nights and our bed was straightened once. What kind of service is that? They didn't replace the spare toilet paper roll despite having been in to clean the bathroom, so once we were almost out of toilet paper we had to go to the front desk late at night to get more toilet paper. When we were going down the stairwell, it was being washed with no warning at the top of the stairs for a wet floor. When we got to the main floor, the floor was wet with no warnings of a wet floor. The door handle to the second floor in the stairwell had red gunk dripping down beside it for 4 days before it was cleaned off. One of the night front desk receptionist was antagonistic about the possibility of changing rooms. It was quite disheartening. The room was by the stairwell and elevator so loud talking and noise was happening late into the night, even 1AM, keeping us awake. Not to mention the yelling and wall banging waking us up at 3 AM two nights in a row. The bright spot in this hotel is the staff attending breakfast. They were lovely, caring, compassionate and serving a great breakfast.

Made a late booking for Grand Prix weekend, a bit outside of Montreal but closest we could get at a reasonable rate. We had no idea at the time we had booked in the hometown of Gilles Villeneuve! The Gilles memorabilia was a nice touch. Staff were welcoming and accommodated English. They even opened the breakfast bar early for us so we could head in to the Grand Prix early. Would stay again, but leave more time to visit the Gilles Villeneuve museum nearby.
