Mercure Bendigo Schaller

The staff at the reception were all very friendly, which made check-in a pleasant experience. It took about 10 minutes to walk from Bendigo Station to the hotel, and there’s a bus stop right in front, which is great for people without a car. Our room was on the ground floor, so the view was a bit blocked by trees, but it was still a comfortable place to stay for a night.

Facilities were good and new. Room was not big, but sufficient for us. We didn't have to look for places to eat in Bendigo as the restaurant offers nice selection of food at a reasonable price. We would recommend this to our friends and family in case they travel to Bendigo.

First the good - room was clean, bed comfortable and the shower was okay Now the bad - first time I have ever been downgraded as an Accor gold member but after some discussion they gave me the room I booked (although they tried to make out it was my problem because I booked late); probably the smallest room I have ever stayed in - they said it was 19m but the actual living area I measured was 9m (must include balcony, bathroom and corridor in their sizing) and only just fits the bed - hard to find a place for 2 suitcases; room smelt like previous occupant had smoked; not enough parking and no rear entrance so if you park around the back you have to make a cross country trip with your bag to get in the front door. You could get 1 bedroom apartments in the area for the same price so never again for me - very disappointing product from Mecure

Very noisy place. Woken at 6am with 30+ mins of thumping and banging from floor above. Then trucks reversing and unloading directly below my window. Then having a coffee in the cafe downstairs and a staff member starts vacuuming the floor near the table! Had to check out early just get some peace and quiet.

Modern, Fun Vibes Rooms are a little small and parking can be tough if busy. Plus it's not walking distance to much except hospital district and one pub. BUT. The hotel itself is modern and comfortable, has a decent bar and bistro on the premises, and is a nice place to stay. I do like it, but if I'm in an introvert frame of mind and not wanting too many people around, I'd probably go elsewhere, as it is very popular - and with good reason, it's a super hotel!
