Property Description
The Belt Creek Cabin is a log cabin located in historic Belt, Montana. Belt is in central Montana and is nestled between wheat farms, the Highwood Mountains, and the Little Belt Mountains. Soaring cliffs and precipitous ledges mark the Belt Creek Canyon as it slices out of the Little Belt Mountains and winds toward the town of Belt. Remains of mines, a railroad, and historic cabins line Belt Creek as it makes its way through the beautiful canyon carved in limestone. In fact, Sluice Boxes State Park, which resides in that canyon, is just beyond our front door. Belt gets its unusual name from nearby Belt Butte, a mountain with a belt of rocks encircling it. The Belt Creek Cabin is a log cabin which includes a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, dining area, and living area, and has beds for six guests. Relax outside on the beautiful decks, on which you can barbecue, visit with the local residents, and enjoy the beautiful view, including Belt Creek as it flows past the cabin. Take a short stroll down Castner Street to The Belt Commercial Historic District, which is on the National Registry of Historic Places. Belt was settled as a coal camp in the late 19th century. It is a charming small town, surrounded with opportunities for hiking, hunting, fishing, cross country and downhill skiing, bike riding, bird watching, wildlife viewing, picnicking, photography, swimming, rafting, ice fishing, ATV, horseback riding and historical reminiscing. We have our own renowned brewery, which features Pig Ass Porter, Charlie Russell Red and Beltian White. Please see our “Things to Do” page for more information. The local museum captures the history of Belt. Housed in the old town jail, the Belt Museum includes a jail cell, a coal mine exhibit, records, photos, and the work of local artists. Private tours can be arranged to see the Belt Museum. Belt also hosts an annual rodeo, spanning three days and attracting competitors from across the west. In an easy day trip, you can even see dinosaurs at the Old Trail Museum in Choteau! If you like ghost towns, check out Barker & Hughsville. In Great Falls, a quick 15 minute drive, you can see one of the world’s largest freshwater springs, which was discovered by the Lewis & Clark Expedition, and flows at a rate of 156 million gallons of crystal clear water per day. Giant Springs creates the Roe River, once named the world’s shortest river in the Guinness Book of World Records. You can see the series of five waterfalls that the Lewis & Clark Expedition spent a full month portaging from the lower falls to the upper. Belt is a great stopping point between Glacier National Park to the north, and Yellowstone National Park to the south. Great Falls International Airport is located within easy driving distance. Make us part of your journey. You won’t be disappointed. Check out the area for things to do. A very interesting and fun area to visit. Cute cabin We travel to Belt every year to visit family. This year we decided to stay in the Belt Cabin. Easy check in/check out. Communication with the owner was good. The kids loved the bunk beds and having the creek right behind the cabin was nice to have. The only thing we didn’t care for was it could have been a little cleaner. A little dusty, found some antacid tablets under the fitted sheet on the bed the first night. Pink mold on the shower curtain. Leather seat peeling. Despite this, we would probably stay again. It was super convenient location and the price was right.

The owner of the property, was excellent at getting back to me, when I called her about anything. And the woman who takes care of the place, even brought me over one of her fans, which was able to act like a little bit of an air conditioner. One thing I wished it had, was an air conditioner! But the mornings, and the evenings, were delightful! I had a wonderful time!

Nicely built log cabin We were in Belt on some business in the area and chose Belt as the perfect base to do what we needed. The cabin was well built and easy to locate. The maintenance and cleanliness left quite a bit to be desired. A note was left to be cautious using the toilet as the seat was broken in fact it was detached and not safe. Open bags of someone’s left over chips were in the cupboard, dust and grit thick on the information folder telling what there is to do in the Belt area. The refrigerator door handle was missing. The floor under the wood stove, where the power ***** for the TV and lamps etc sat, was filthy with heavy dust, as were all of the shelves and books. We are not very fussy, but I think that you will find it worthwhile to pay better attention to these details.

Great accommodation for what we needed. Tiny house experience. Coffee on the patio with the creek running below. Comfy bed. Used washer dryer and easy drive the family ranch. Beautiful time of year. Would use this home again for a future visit. Great location for short day trips to Memorial Falls and Giant Springs! Only drawback was no salt or pepper. Short walk to the Belt Valley grocery and several places to grab pizza or a burger.

Cute cabin accommodation Super convenient cute cabin right in town. Have stayed here in the past. Only disappointed this time in the condition of the pull out bed. Luckily we had our own bedding we brought from our house to use as what was on it had mouse droppings and was pretty unclean looking.

Cozy little cabin Our stay was short but wonderful. We have stayed here before and we like it because it’s close to family that we visit in Belt. It is a cozy little place that is clean and convenient, so it works well for us.

Lovely cabin. Very nice property. Very clean and had everything we needed. The only negative we had was that it was very hot. In the 90's. Cabin advertised air conditioning but there was only a small table top unit which did not cool the cabin. We actually had to go sleep at our granddaughters house our second night there. But we did love the cabin and will book again when we go back to visit family, we just won't go in July or August. Close to Great Falls for shopping and restaurants. Highly recommend this cabin.
