Fireside Inn, Ocean's Edge

Location & Views: Most reviews highlighted beautiful ocean or bay views from balconies, proximity to Belfast city centre, and access to Acadia Park.

This is a great place to stay. Well kept property, clean rooms, terrific views of the bay, its own beachfront (though the seaweed and rocks make it a challenge to wade), wonderful front desk staff. And a pool. We really enjoyed it. But, being practical, for regular middle-class people this property is unaffordable. Friday and Saturday nights on the maine coast are a nightmare for over-nighters; we know that. But when you get up to $250/ night, well, that's too much, even when the view makes you feel like skipping. And the price is WITHOUT breakfast (you can pay for vending machine foods in the lovely lobby). At least the coffee is free. Best advice: try to find a motel on the Belfast-area coast, even one more old-fashioned than this, for significantly less money. The lovely bay is the same. Or if you do stay here, buy yourself breakfast foods the night before your stay, and put them in your room fridge. And for dinner, eat at the food truck park overlooking the bay, just a couple doors down from the motel. The most beautiful view of any Food Truck Park we've ever visited.

The grounds were lovely with beautiful flowers, lawn games and an ocean view. The location is convenient to Belfast and points north or south on route one. Dogs are frequent guests at the inn, so bear that in mind. The manager was responsive and thorough with an issue that arose. I was pleased with the manner in which it was resolved.
