Beachcomber Island Resort Reviews

We recently stayed on this beautiful island in Fiji and while we ultimately enjoyed our time, there were a few disappointments that are worth mentioning for future guests. Firstly, the pool was closed during our stay. We were only notified two days prior to arrival, but once on the island, it was quite obvious the pool had been closed for a while. Had we known this earlier, we may have reconsidered our booking, as the pool was a key part of our decision. The setting itself is undeniably stunning – crystal-clear water, gorgeous beaches, and lush surroundings. The island has real natural beauty and a relaxed vibe. The rooms are a bit worn and basic, with no TVs, but we actually found that part quite charming. The biggest downside was the limited dining schedule. Meals are only served during strict one-hour windows – for example, breakfast from 8–9 AM and lunch from 1–2 PM – and there’s no food available outside of these times. The food itself was okay, but the rigid schedule was inconvenient. Another surprise was that the island doubles as a day-trip destination. Most days, there were around 100 extra visitors, which made it harder to find beach loungers or participate in some of the included activities, like turtle viewing, which were much more crowded than expected. Additionally, there was quite a bit of construction happening around the island which, paired with the closed pool, did impact the overall atmosphere. That said, the staff were incredibly warm and friendly throughout our stay. We also really enjoyed the snorkeling trip – the marine life was fantastic – and the spa massages were quite good. Overall, we were happy with our stay, but we do feel that guests should be given more accurate and timely information before arriving, especially about closures and construction. The island itself is beautiful, but there are definitely a few things management could improve to make the experience more seamless and relaxing.
