I've stayed here before, the reason I chose it again is the price and location. Great location with a short walk and some steps down to Salamanca Place. Its a typical older hotel, you get what you pay for and so long you are not expecting 5 stars, its great! I will stay here again..

Right next to Salamanca, above a great pub with free parking. Rooms are tired and basic but so am I. For the price, parking and convenience its worth it if your intent is just a base to operate out of/lay your head. Its pub accommodation, friendly, good value and does what it says on the box.

The cleanliness and condition of Room 19 was abhorrent - we walked in and there was a dirty sock on the floor, one lamp missing and the other barely hanging on the wall, a window that would not stay open, brown sweat stains on one of the pillows, torn and ripped bedding ensembles, cracks in the walls, cracked and missing tiles in the bathroom, a toaster that looked like it hadn't been cleaned in well over 5 years, the bathroom door couldn't close, and the shower was either piping hot or freezing cold (there was no in between) and lost total water pressure.
We are very easy going people and are do not care for high end fancy accommodation, but the state this room was in was decrepit and appeared as if no staff had visited the room in years.
Only reason we have not given one star was the manager was easy about giving us a new room, but the fact we needed to ask for a new room is a problem.
Keep in mind you're on top of a pub, extremely loud in the rooms and cigarette smoke constantly coming through the windows.

Unfortunately the worst experience, firstly VERY small servings some ordered lamb shanks that arrived over cooked and shrivelled covered in a separate synthetic boxed gravy. ‘Creamed potato’ was a slab of grey hard unseasoned mystery matter with a grey/green sauce on the side (peas?) there was a raw rosemary garnish that looked un -washed. One of our party ordered curry, was given a childs serving of watery bitter overcooked stew. A person came through the dining room wearing black with a dirty apron and wiping his nose with his bare hand, altogether an unpleasant experience that cost us a lot.

Directed at the condition of the room.
Very poor condition and unclean. It looked like the room wasn't vacuumed or dusted for quite a while. The small fan provided was laden with dust that spewed out when it was used. The facilities were archaic. The bathroom had soap and body wash that had been open and used previously.
On the positive side, the check in was well done and location was perfect for me.
