A perfect hotel, owned and operated by the cavendish family. The food is very good, Michelin in 2020, and the ingredients are supplied by their own channels. The breakfast is rich. It is a 30-minute walk to Chatsworth House, if you are not afraid of the wind in this season. There are lawns and 🐑 all the way. If you have seen "Pride and Prejudice", this is a must-visit place.

We stopped by on the off-chance. having called to book but had to leave an answer phone message, for afternoon tea. Lovely setting, efficient service and a good selection for afternoon tea - including my vegetarian choices. Will certainly go again, and we recommend.

We visited the Cavendish for afternoon tea today as we have many times previously.. Whilst the finger sandwiches and small cakes were good, we did not feel they were worth the £42.50 per person. The main reason for the low rating was the service quality. There was insufficient tea brought for the nine guests, so we had to keep asking for additional pots. This would have been acceptable if he single waitress was available, but in the middle of the meal we spent 15 minutes trying to get their attention to bring another small pot. To then charge a mandatory 10% service charge on top of the bill simply added insult to injury. There are plenty of similar establishments offering similar ambience and quality of food at lower prices but with better service. These will receive our custom in future.

What a stunning place. Booked a Valentibe’s stay over via Secret Escapes with meal allowance and breakfast included. Every part if this hotel was just perfect for us. The room number 8 and was a spacious double and just brilliant, with a huge, very comfy bed. Wine on arrival and a personalised note from the manager - little touches 👏🏻. The meal was delicious and the service superb. Staff we very polite, attentive and confident to come and chat. Breakfast was equally as goid and the hotel itself and the surroundings just made it a perfect stay for us. Thank you to all the staff - we’ll definitely be returning.

An Afternoon Tea for 5 people in the conservatory was superb. Tasteful decor and a lovely view. Attentive staff but not intrusive. The food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Each food item had lovely flavours, my favourite was the grapefruit posset in a miniature glass teacup (and I'm usually a chocolate cake fan!) A menu for available teas gave us something to chat about and compare flavours. I was able to drink it without milk, it was so palatable. My daughter and I had a gluten free selection and it was just as plentiful and tasty.

Visited with friends and had lunch in the Garden Room. The food was delicious, I can recommend the duck, fish and chips and fish of the day. The desserts were a little expensive but delicious! The bar and seating area was cosy like a lovely comfy living room.

Gorgeous lunch in super setting. Thank you Cavendish for your new more relaxed setting in the garden room. Perfect spot for great food in an elegant building and great views…without having to be too dressed up. Can’t to come back in the summer to enjoy the terrace.

Excellent champagne afternoon tea today for three of us. We followed it up with a bottle of Prosecco then coffee and two peppermint teas. Food was fantastic and so fresh and the staff were very attentive and helpful. Beautiful location and hotel. We ate in the gallery restaurant. Definitely recommend. Thank you to the staff for making our visit a very nice experience.
