Very good food /kitchen. We stayed 2 nights and had the 7 course tasting on the 1st night and friends joined us for the 3 course on the 2nd night. This is slightly deceptive as lots of little extras arrive as well. The food is as well prepared as anywhere we have eaten and definitely deserves all the accolades it has…..and deserves more! The room we had had everything we needed but was quite small for our 2 night stay. Very helpful and friendly staff and we will visit again.

A lovely boutique hotel in a peaceful part of the lake district. Superbly appointed rooms thoughtfully designed with the guest in mind, compact but beautifully put together. The car park was the only challenging element but the food at dinner was tremendous. A very friendly team and a wonderful stay, thank you!

Great experience at 1863 after seeing them on the Michelin guide app. The room we stayed in was amazing and felt like the highest quality. We stayed at the hotel and went for dinner on the Saturday night and couldn’t fault anything. The three course meal was delicious and presentation of each course was great. All of the staff were so welcoming and attentive and made the night feel really relaxed. We also had the breakfast in the morning which was again delicious and had plenty of options to choose from. Couldn’t recommend 1863 enough if you’re looking to stay in the area or looking for somewhere to have dinner.

We had read about this place and we booked for a stop off on a longer journey. It was fantastic: a warm welcome, bright clean room, comfortable bed. Best of all was the brilliant meal, picture pretty and tasted wonderful. We ordered different dishes and shared half each. So many highlights but the cheese custard amuse bouche and the turbot with zingy lemon gel potatoes were my favourites. My partner loved the lamb and the honey sponge with damson. Highly recommend a stay here. We will be back.

We spent one night here for a treat. Comfortable stay in room. The 3 course dinner was excellent with smaller courses in between. Service was great and complimented the lovely food.

Our two night stay could not have been better. We had the seven course tasting menu on the first night and three course a la carte on the second night, both were superb. The room was as described, cosy, with everything you needed. The service from all the staff was faultless. We will definitely return.

The hotel is in a great location and the vibe of the hotel is quite chic. The staff are really nice and the rooms are well equipped and the bed is very comfortable. Food is also very good. Definitely worth a visit.
