Hopefully by the time you are done reading this review La Gourguille is not already booked! This is a gem of a hotel located in the charming town of Barjac, France. Bruno and Tamara are perfect hosts. They were so welcoming. The property is beautiful and so well appointed. The rooms are impeccably decorated. Our best meal while we were in France was prepared by Bruno in their kitchen. It was superb! Breakfast the next morning was equally as delicious. The location is perfect and right in the center of town. We cannot wait to return to Barjac and we will only stay at La Gourguille.

We stayed with Bruno and Tamara at the Maison D'Hotes La Gourguille in early October, while visiting La Ribaute, Barjac, and the surrounding villages. We all had such a wonderful time! They are the most welcoming and helpful hosts, and the Maison is beautiful and relaxing. And the food was amazing and excellent! Definitely, arrange for at least one dinner during your visit. This was our second visit to La Gourguille after a far too brief one night stay in 2024. This time we opted for 1 week and we chose the Venice Room (I think all rooms equally luxurious but this is our current favourite). Whilst called a "room", it is a suite with a large lounge area, a large bedroom and a spacious shower room. All the decoration in this room is in the "Venice" theme. Nothing in the room is anything but high quality, chosen to make guests feel very comfortable and pampered. The a/c was very welcome as we had high temperatures during our week. The garden area has a great view of the Cevennes in the distance and a beautiful infinity pool with a number of areas to relax and snack. We had 2 evening meals cooked by Bruno with Tamara supporting and these were delicious and special. The breakfasts are always fabulous with cold meats, cheeses, omelettes, home made jams, home made yoghurt etc.. A stay in La Gourguille is a special experience made more memorable by Bruno and Tamara and their obvious love of what they do. Needless to say, we have booked again for 2026.

If you wish to spend some time in an old, beautiful palace, renewed with taste and fantasy, with all possible comfort, great views, lovely swimming pool corner, possibility of eating delicious food prepared by Bruno (the owner), and maybe talk about interesting subjects with the hosts who have themselves been traveling quite a bit, then I think you found the right place!!

Our stay was absolutely perfect. Very nice hosts. The suite was very lovingly furnished. The breakfast was varied and all wishes were fulfilled. Dinner was absolutely delicious. A truly perfect stay in Barjac.

Exceptionnel dans tous les domaines ! Accueil, cadre, surtout la haute qualité de la table d'hôtes digne d'un chef étoilé . Tamara et Bruno sont d'emblée très attachants, sensibles à toutes vos demandes et passionnants dans leurs cursus, en insistant sur l'excellence de la préparation des tables d'hôtes ! Nous avons été subjugués par la qualité des confections des plats . A recommander .

Séjour absolument parfait !!!! Le lieu est merveilleux : confortable, chaleureux, décoré de manière exquise et la literie est parfaite ; mais ce qui fait la différence ce sont les hôtes ! Attentifs , chaleureux , plein de petites attentions et qui font réellement tout pour que vous vous sentiez comme chez vous ! Pour couronner le tout les petits déjeuners sont exquis , variés , généreux et les repas servis par le maître de maison sont dignes d’une table étoilée dans un cadre magique . Dominique
