Riu Palace Pacifico - Adults Only - All Inclusive

I believe this is by far the best Riu we have stayed at. Only issues were the internet wasn't good, and in the sports bar at an all inclusive shouldn't had to pay for playing pool. If I could suggest for entertainment that you add a night of karaoke, I know a lot of people enjoy it.

This is our second time staying at this resort. Once prior to the remodel and our current stay. We have also stayed at the Riu Palace Mexico in Playa del Carmen and the Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas. My wife and I really like the product that the RIU offers. First the PROs of this resort. It is immaculate, the staff at the restaurants, pools, and housekeeping are without exception excellent. The food throughout the resort whether it be at the individual restaurants or the buffet is very very good. The Krystal restaurant in our opinion had the best food and wait staff. I had mentioned we were celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary and one day several chocolate covered strawberries arrived in our room, this was a very nice gesture. Some reviews stated that their minibar was not refilled. Our minibar was not only refilled each day we were given extra large bottles of water to place in the refrigerator in case we consumed all the water before the next day. Now the CONs of this resort. In an effort to reduce the environmental impact (which we agree with) of the resort there is no paper. When we checked in I asked if I could have a map so we could study the resort's layout. I was told "sir we do not have maps because everything you will need is on the APP". The problem however is if you are going to rely on the APP then it is kind of critical to make sure the APP is always working, which sadly it wasn't. On two different nights the Entertainment section of the APP had for example "July 18,2025" but the highlighted date on the calendar was for 7/17/2025 which was the correct date. So the first time this happened I asked the front desk if the information was for 7/17 or the next day 7/18 because the APP was displaying two different dates. First the young lady at the front desk looked at me like I was crazy until I showed her the APP then she agreed but didn't know the solution so she left to find out and when she came back she said "just ignore the typed date at the top and follow the date that is highlighted on the calendar". Okay not a big deal but not something I have ever seen at a resort of this caliber. RIU kind of infers that this resort is for "couples" but it isn't. It is a resort for adults over 18. Sadly for us at the swim up bar it was like a college spring break experience where young people mostly male were getting drunk by 2 pm and loud. I don't know how to fix that other than to have RIU staff stop getting these folks loaded. You can imagine how many expletives we heard in the five days we were there. When folks tried to order a drink at the swim up bar the guys occupying the seats would say "what are you drinking I'll get it for you" instead of saying "I've been sitting here for a few hours so why don't you take a turn". Loved every minute of our stay! The food was fantastic and we loved the specialty cocktails offered each night in the lobby. Can’t wait to go back!
