Hotel Alte Mühle ★★★
"Upon checking in at reception, it's immediately clear that the name "Alte Mühle" (Old Mill) is quite fitting. The entire building exudes the charm of the good old 70s (and I mean that in the best possible way): a winding staircase, marble-look surfaces, chandeliers – everything is wonderful. Our room was just as lovely: parquet flooring, plenty of space, a huge oak wardrobe, a flat-screen TV with a seating area and a water dispenser. Comfortable beds, a functional and modern bathroom. And above all: total peace and quiet. The only downside was that housekeeping took until 4:30 pm to show up. We had already put up the "do not disturb" sign by then, and lo and behold, they still knocked. This kind of thing is annoying and completely avoidable. The hotel's own restaurant piqued our interest (local and fresh, reservations required), so we decided to check it out. For example: the appetizer was white bread with tomato spread, but the bread slices were smothered in balsamic paste. Why? One wonders. The appetizers, Japanese pancakes and a hearty potato soup, were good in themselves, but the "pancakes" were again smothered, this time with balsamic vinegar and mayonnaise. Again: Why do they do that? The main courses (pasta/seafood, steak/vegetables) were completely unseasoned; we had to ask for salt and pepper shakers. These looked like they came from a dollar store and didn't quite fit the fine-dining ambiance. All in all, we wouldn't go back; the price and quality don't (yet) match up."
Hotel Fürstenhof Bad Bertrich ★★★★
"I was fooled by the photo. The cover photo is not of the hotel."
Hotel Haus Christa ★★★
"I booked three rooms for one night. They were very clean, but the bathrooms left a lot to be desired. Far too small and very old. To park our cars, we were sent to the town entrance, which was really annoying, especially since the hotel advertises on-site parking."
Hotel Fürstenhof ★★★★
"The hotel staff (especially in the restaurant) discriminates against people who are not German. We reported the problems encountered to the hotel manager and no goodwill gesture (except €6 for free parking!) was offered unless we came back to the hotel! We also had a problem with the curtains in the room (which are too small and therefore wake you up at 6 a.m.). The bedding is a bit hard and there is no headrest so it is quite uncomfortable when you want to read. Breakfast is okay but they do not restock and provide insufficient quantities compared to the number of guests. The restaurant staff does not speak English or almost not and is totally disorganized and disrespectful. There is a coffee machine but the staff does not want to use it to serve you (or at least not if you are not German!) (and it is not usable by the guests themselves so you are only allowed a coffee in a thermos). Paid parking (12€ per night to be close otherwise you have to park at the entrance to the city and pay 3€ per night!). The hotel is also quite old and could do with a refresh and cleaning of the carpets on the 3rd floor (big stain right in front of the elevator). The area is pretty and full of other hotels, so avoid this one."
Haus Hohenzollern & Haus 'Ambiente ★★★
"Was made very welcome by our host . the room and shower was clean and fresh , the food we had on two nights was very tasty and the breakfast was also quite varied so something for all of us , all in all was very satisfied my stay. We had a dedicated place to park our motorcycles which although outside was very secluded and the town is a spa town which is very quite at the time we visited so next time we might be able to take advantage of the lovely location"
