Perfect location when visiting Austin. Room is cozy and clean.

Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable on things to do in the local area. Hotel bar had a good view too. Highly recommend.

This location is located in the UT college district, north of downtown, with lots of students around the neighborhood and a few places to eat at nearby. The lobby is cool looking with a few places to relax in, as well as a large outdoor patio. Theres a couple of classic sit down video game machines (Pac-Man/Galaga) to play on. Upon check-in we didn’t feel that welcomed and the front desk does not have a happy feel, like at other Moxy locations I’ve stayed at. I felt like a number instead of a valued customer. Further, being a Bonvoy Titanium member, I expected much better service. There’s no morning breakfast buffet, only a Taco place that’s attached to the lobby to order at using a terminal screen. Being a Titanium member, we had a credit for breakfast, but we had no guidance on how to use it at the taco place that made breakfast tacos and breakfast quesadillas. The Moxy front desk woman with the black hat and black mask (I could hardly make out any of her spoken words) made me feel like I was bothering her when I asked how to use our breakfast credit. Without saying much, after she investigated our account, she walked over to the taco desk and coldly asked what we wanted. She didn’t even apologize fot the hassle, or that she was unaware of their exact breakfast offerings, even though they were listed on a sign above. She took our order and said nothing else other than giving us an order number. Wow, what an uncomfortable encounter. If I was her manager, I would fire her on the spot for treating guests so poorly. The Moxy female bartender we encountered was decent and made us a couple of drinks, although with 80% ice. The room we staying in was clean with a separate toilet room from the shower. Oddly, the shower had no air vent, steam just went throughout the room. The TV was large, in front of the bed, but the TV interface was very slow to react to remote control commands. The A/C was quiet and efficient. The bed was uncomfortable; it felt very hard and lumpy. Given the poor front desk experience and lumpy bed, I wouldn’t rush to stay here again. They really need to do a better job with certain front desk staff welcoming guests, being much more friendly, and pleasantly answering any questions or concerns.

My check-in at Moxy UT Austin was smooth with a complimentary drink via the poker chip perk. The staff are friendly and chatty and eager to ensure you start your stay on a high note. The common areas, including the lobby, bar, and lounge, are stylish and lively reflecting Moxy’s signature vibe. The room itself is modern and clean but severely lacking in practical amenities. There is no fridge and no microwave, and the bathroom is divided into a WC for the toilet while the shower and sink remain exposed to the sleeping area, separated only by a ceiling-mounted curtain. Noise from the central courtyard is constant and can be disruptive late at night or early in the morning. On-site tacos are passable but there are superior options within walking distance. The location couldn’t be more convenient for UT Austin and the rate is slightly lower than nearby hotels, but not enough to make up for the missing basics. This setup feels more suited to couples seeking a quirky getaway rather than families or friends traveling together due to the bathroom layout. Overall, Moxy UT Austin offers a fun atmosphere and good value for the social traveler, but its lack of amenities and noise issues keep it from earning a higher rating.

Great hotel and the staff was amazing… The rooms are small but very cleverly laid out… Love the carpet going throughout the halls… Valet was a little pricey but there are several close spots to park near by… Over all we enjoyed the ambiance and the folks that work at this quintessential destination…
