My husband and I had a wonderful time in Austin starting with our hotel stay. They were very accommodating. Not to mention it’s a beautiful hotel. The on site restaurant is great as well.

I recently left a google review but I HAD to post one on TripAdvisor , So I had a great stay at the Hotel Van Zandt! The rooms were beautiful ,clean, comfortable, and stylish—and the location was perfect, close to everything I needed. A special shoutout to Josh, who was extremely helpful throughout my stay. His friendly attitude and assistance really made the experience even better. Highly recommend this hotel!

From the moment we arrived, Hotel Van Zandt impressed us with its perfect blend of style, comfort, and genuine Texas hospitality. The location is ideal — right on Rainey Street, surrounded by Austin’s best food, bars, and live music, yet the hotel feels calm and inviting once you step inside. The atmosphere is quintessential Austin — modern, artistic, and effortlessly cool. From the cozy lobby to the music-inspired décor, everything feels thoughtfully designed to make you feel relaxed and connected to the city’s energy. The hotel was very clean and well-kept, which made the stay feel comfortable and welcoming. Our room was extremely comfortable, with a plush bed, spacious layout, and thoughtful amenities. Being on the side of the building away from Rainey Street, it was wonderfully quiet despite the lively surroundings. Considering the location, amenities, and attentive staff, the hotel offered a great value for the experience. The rooftop pool was a highlight, with a fun yet relaxing vibe and attentive service. Geraldine’s, the hotel’s restaurant, impressed with outstanding food, expertly crafted cocktails, and live music in the evenings. BrassPoppy, the hotel’s bar, offered excellent service and a lively yet comfortable spot to unwind. The staff truly made our stay exceptional. The valet team, especially Matthew, Ajay, and Abby, along with the rest of the valet team, was wonderful, both upon arrival and anytime we needed our vehicle. Valet manager Josh ensures everything runs smoothly. The front desk team, Angela and Jordyn, were warm, helpful, and ready to answer every question. With stylish design, perfect location, quiet and comfortable rooms, attentive staff, and a welcoming atmosphere, Hotel Van Zandt is a true five-star experience. We can’t wait to return!

The hotel itself is nice enough. Nice rooms, decent lighting, comfortable and clean. However, I would NOT recommend this hotel for travelling mothers who are needing to pump or store breast milk. If you are a solo traveler not requiring any type of freezer or accomodations, this is a great place. Otherwise, 0/10. --- I stayed here for a work trip and they assured me that they could freeze my breast milk. I called ahead weeks before, I called ahead the day before, and I brought it up upon check in. I arrived on a Monday, and they said they would bring a freezer to my room. It's a mini fridge. I went down to the front desk and asked if they had a legitimate freezer that would freeze, as they had said they did on the phone multiple times. They said yes I just had to give them containers of my milk, and they would put it in the freezer in the back. It had to be self contained. The last three days I have given them containers filled with breast milk to put in the freezer to freeze. They assured me they would freeze it solid. Today as I'm getting ready to leave - nothing is frozen. The hotel did absolutely nothing to help me and they're completely screwing me over. It's likely that on top of having to scramble to figurebout how to travel with a ton of liquids (only frozen is okay for TSA) that I'm going to lose around 70 oz of breast milk because of their carelessness. When I spoke to the blond woman at the front desk, she simple stared at me and said "but there's ice in the freezer." Neat. Thanks. I'm now scrambling to figure out how to keep everything cold all day while I travel because not even the ice packs I added to the "freezer" on Monday are not frozen. The fact the simple ask of freezing something is so difficult is not only infuriating, but it speaks to how little Hotel Van Zandt considers mothers. A small ask to freeze something has been nothing short of a nightmare. I didn't realize that the difference between a fridge and a freezer required explanation. I am so disappointed and so upset following the end of my work trip. It has been a terrible way to end a challenging week. Other moms who breastfeed or pump or have ever just have to travel without your babies, know that I see you and I IMPLORE you to not stay here.

I stayed with my Mom for her 90th birthday! It was a “girls’” trip with my 21 yo daughter, my niece and my sister. The entire staff rolled out the red carpet for my mom given her 90th bday! They were all so nice and accommodating and giving us a few perks. The decor is awesome…the rooftop pool is incredible, beds & pillows are comfortable…worth the money to stay here! I felt bad that I did not write a review earlier. I can’t wait to come back…going again in July! See you soon HVZ!

Van Zandt is easily one of the best places I’ve stayed. From the second you walk in, the lobby has a sharp, beautiful design. The trombone chandelier in the lobby is a standout, complimenting the beautiful array of furniture with an equally gorgeous bar attached. Mason and Alex at the front desk made the check in process seamless, followed by Colton the concierge waiting adjacent ready to help you plan a perfect night. The room was clean, spacious, and had a beautiful view of the lake. Immediately when you walk into the room you’re met with a personalized message and a vinyl of a band of your choice provided by the hotel from a Q&A you fill out prior to your stay with a record player in the room, making it that much more special! The hotel is right off Rainey street and close enough to downtown to have the option of experiencing both, which I highly reccomend! Everything ran smooth, the vibe was laid back but professional, and the attention to detail really showed. The only part I can complain about is the fact I had to leave! Amazing experience across the board and I can’t recommend staying here enough.

A classy night out, hearing music with Rotary Club friends hosting a fundraiser at Geraldine’s bar. Beautiful space, helpful staff. Shout out to Valet parkers Josh and Matthew. Making it safe and easy on a busy weekend night downtown

I was able to stay at Hotel Van Zandt in Austin during SXSW 2025. This is my first time staying at this hotel as I have seen it before from various times I would pass by walking to Rainey Street. I decided to stay with my partner for 2 nights during weekend 2 of SXSW 2025.  Here are my thoughts: Pro: Close to Downtown Austin The hotel is ideal as its very close to the heart of downtown near the convention center. I'm able to walk to the convention center and other events of SXSW and then walk back to the hotel in ease.  Old fashioned room The room is very rustic and old fashioned in the terms as age. I was astonished on how well kept they made sure the room was for my stay. Con: Bed was very lumpy That is one of the most uncomfortable beds I've ever laid on before! The bed was very lumpy and would sink in when laying down.  No Shower Door There was no shower door in the restroom when I took a shower! I felt like I was going to get water all over the place while I wait for it seem like hours to get hot water. I didn't like this at all!  Rating: 8 out of 10
