The room was tidy and clean. We shared toilet and hot spring. The hot spring was awesome and we enjoyed 45 minutes there. This place was a worth staying hostel yet a bit far away from the JR station.

The worst experience I’ve ever had. The owner makes the check-in process so complicated that you’ll get sick to stay. I recommend not to even consider to stay there.

Not recommended for a newbie. Check-in procedure was really complicated for foreigners, making a call to the host to get the password of the key box. Without Japan number I contacted the host by e-mail in Japanese instead that took some time. 500 yen onsen fee is compulsory. You need to pay more for a towel or amenities. The room and communal area with a small kitchen was good.

This is a traditional Japanese Ryokan style hotel. All instructions are in English however, means there are foreigners regularly staying here. There is a open air onsen (hot bath) which is very pleasant. Must be reserved in advance. Drinks can be bought at 200 yen a pop. This is a fully unmanned Ryokan meaning it self check in and self checkout ! The rooms are very small (4 meter square) which barely fits a bed. Pictures on the travel sites about the rooms in this hotel are deceiving ! The location is sort of OK from Kinomiya station but it's quite far from Atami city center and Atami sun beach . We took at taxi which was 1200 yen. Kinomiya Jinja is 25 minutes by foot.

Location is a bit far from station but the main issue is there are ants in the room. Not sure if it's cos too hot, the ants were crawling out from the tatami.

It's hard to describe, the most uncomfortable thing in this trip. I booked a hotel in advance, but because the visa required a supplementary document, I was afraid that I would miss the trip, so I contacted the hotel to coordinate whether I could cancel it for free, but the merchant refused. Ctrip also notified me that they had communicated but did not agree to cancel, and the reservation was reserved. This is understandable, and they abide by the non-cancellable reservation rules. Fortunately, the visa was issued as scheduled later. When checking in, communication was a bit difficult. The hotel is actually a homestay, and it is a very simple one. But because I read the reviews, I was prepared in my heart, and finally I got it done intermittently. After going out for a walk, I came back at night and the problem occurred. A Japanese person in charge in the store asked me to answer the phone. A Chinese lady on the phone said that your order was cancelled and you cannot check in. Please pack your luggage and leave now. I said that I had applied before, but you did not agree to cancel, and Ctrip also said that the reservation was reserved. She still insisted that you can't stay now, so pack your luggage. I said why can't I stay if my order is normal, she said you have evidence to prove it, I said yes, she said add me on WeChat and send it to me. I added her WeChat and sent her a screenshot of the order. She called me back and said, "If you apply for cancellation now, I will refund your money, but you can't stay." I was at a loss at the time and didn't know what to do. I said I would contact Ctrip first. My family started packing. After contacting Ctrip, I told them the whole story. Ctrip said they would contact the merchant. About half an hour later, Ctrip said that the merchant said you can stay, there is no problem... I was really angry and speechless at the time, and a little aggrieved. I don't know why Ctrip was fine after calling me. They were so fierce to me. I asked Ctrip why it was like this. One moment they said it was not possible, but the next moment it was okay. I have packed my luggage now and I don't want to stay any longer. Then Ctrip contacted the store again and replied that the store did not agree to cancel. If you don't stay now, you can only book it again at your own expense. We apologize for your experience. There are no rooms in the hotels outside today, and some are very expensive. I suggest you bear the grievance and stay. It was 11 o'clock at that time. I checked Ctrip and found that all the surrounding hotels were full and there was nowhere to go. I stayed there. The next morning, it was raining and I dragged my luggage to leave. I booked a hotel by myself. I told Ctrip about the early check-out. Anyway, after communication, the hotel refused to refund the room fee for the second night. I paid the tax and bathing fee for two nights and it was not refunded. It was really helpless, and the store did not admit that one of its employees had a bad attitude. I told Ctrip that no one asked us to cancel the order. In the end, Ctrip compensated some expenses according to a proportion of the second night's room fee. When you go out, you should avoid booking small and local homestays. Hotels will be more reliable. Whether in terms of communication or safety.

The room is very clean and you can cook your own meals. But it is difficult for people who don't speak Japanese to check in. I hope the hotel owner can solve the problem of difficulty in checking in.

The shop is halfway up the mountain, ancient and mysterious. If you are for sentiment, you can try the century-old house, which feels like going back to your grandma's house, but there are many rules. For example, there is a curfew at 9:00. I experienced the feeling of being soaked and unable to go home. It is ancient but clean, and the outdoor hot spring is very warm. If you want to be comfortable, forget it, a bed occupies a room. There must be a problem with communication. I added Chinese WeChat, but no one responded to me. The language is impossible to communicate with the new cleaner. Foreigners are discouraged.

The way from the station to the inn is uphill, so it's probably not suitable for carrying a carry-on bag, but it's recommended for backpackers. The inn itself has an old-style Japanese-style feel, which I quite like. The sound of the floor is a bit annoying, but it's not noisy. The bath is very comfortable, and it's rare to find a place with a hot spring at this price.

It's far away and the stairs are high. It's not recommended for families with a lot of luggage and children. The check-in reception is difficult to deal with. It took a long time to understand. If you don't speak Japanese well, I don't recommend staying here.

I have never given a review below 3 points on Ctrip. This hotel is so disappointing. The facilities are very old and ancient, so forget it. The sound insulation of the house is very poor. Who knows who is next door. People are still walking around there at night. The whole floor is making noise. The key is that we sleep It had to be a tatami, so I couldn't sleep well all night. And although the toilet is public, you should at least be divided into men and women. Even this can't be done, and there are a lot of other problems. I really don’t recommend everyone to stay here

Overall, I feel halfway, but it's OK for just one day. Maybe I'm not used to sharing bathrooms and toilets.

The worst living experience in my life, I had to run 1 km up the mountain road to change coins in the middle of the night! You don’t know how steep the mountain is!
