Askham is a beautiful village away from the busyness of the Lakes, yet within the National Park and a short hike from Ullswater. The pub is a really lovely place to stay; it’s very comfortable and welcoming with good facilities. We had a brilliant pizza in the bar and breakfast was lovely. All of the staff were really friendly and made the whole thing feel nice and relaxing.

We came here as a stop off point on the way to Lowther Castle from pooley bride. We had a couple of drink and decided to have a home made pizza each. I had the hawaiian pizza and my fiancé had a rocket and mozzarella one, we had the winter coleslaw and chunky chips as sides and they were delicious, cooked to perfection. We’ve walked past this place lots of times and never thought of going in, we’re just going to walk to the Queens head in the future for food and drink and walk back to pooley bridge it makes the walk a better experience.

We had a phenomenal pizza in our favourite place on Saturday. The atmosphere, service, food, beer and wine was all fabulous!! Couldn’t recommend it highly enough. We are so lucky to have it so close. Thanks very much. We will definitely be back.
