"There’s a policy in the website for the hotel that says that they only will clean house every other day… So you have to ask them to clean your room every day if you want it clean every day. I personally think that room should be cleaned every day that I pay for it."

"Worst hotel you could stay in!! Never again. I waited two weeks to see if they would come and clean the filthiest room, floor, toilet, ice machine and shower. Mold and mildew everywhere with stains all over the wll. "

"It is currently changing over to a Hampton Inn, previously a OyO. The lobby was very clean. The room appeared clean at first. In the bathroom I happened to look under the sink vanity and it was clear that it had not been swept and mopped. The bathroom had 2 bath towels and one washcloth. When I asked about getting additional washcloths, I was told that they had a shortage of them. The room had a coffee pot but no coffee or cups. The elevator was broken, and the facility had no ice machine. The hotel was advertised as having a breakfast but that was a no go. When I enquired, they had some excuse that I didn't understand. We at first did not think the room had a fridge and microwave but just before checking out I looked behind a door and found them. When I opened up the fridge it had leftover something in it as did the microwave. "

"Very last minute booking for my family. Very friendly staff, very nice room and good location. Overall you get a lot for what you pay for. I am glad I booked this hotel which is near to many plantations that are worth visiting. This was definitely a lucky punch."

Candlewood Suites Gonzales - Baton Rouge Area by IHG

"My wife and I were traveling and booked a room at Candlewood Suites in Gonzales while in LA. When we checked into Candlewood, the lobby had very unpleasant sweet smell. We went to our room, and opened the door it was FREEZING! The room temperature was set at 64 degrees. I turned the air-conditioner to heat and the smell coming out of the heater was like burning hair and I immediately turned it off. I checked out the bathroom and found dead bugs in the shower/tub area. I went down to the lobby and asked to be put in another room and was given a new room key. When we opened the door that room was also FREEZING with the temperature also set at 64 degrees. Closed the door and went down to the lobby and told the clerk we were not staying and told him why. He told us we would not be charged and went to the Hampton up the block. I sent an email to the manager telling him about our experience and asked why they rooms were all cold as meat lockers and received no response, which did surprise me. The next day I checked my emails and found an email from Candlewood Suite with the receipt for the room charge which I was told we would not be charged. I called Candlewood and spoke to the clerk and she sent me another receipt showing no charge. We have stayed at Candlewood suites before and were very happy with the chain, but after this experience I don't know if we will stay at another Candlewood again with all of the other quality motels available."
